City of Dis
Sepultura [eternity-rock.blogspot.com] Lyrics

Punished for severed hope
Outcast in life for having an opinion of our own
Sometimes things have to be said
No matter what the cost we spend
Can't force tradition
It won't come from suffering
In this bloody system
Lost soul you'll burn for your believe
Cast in the city of dis
I know the world has a way to work out on its own
Don't need the insanity
Faith must be earned
I can live, with myself
I have faith, in myself
Can't force your own ways of tradition
It won't come from the suffering of victims
Can't believe in this filthy bloody system
Fires won't burn our right to have opinions
Can't force your own ways of tradition
It won't come from the suffering of victims
Can't believe in this filthy bloody system
Fires won't burn our right to have opinions
I can live, with myself
I have faith, in myself
The lyrics to City of Dis by Sepultura address the difficulties of holding an opinion that is different from the norm in society. The song highlights the struggles faced by those who are outcasts because they refuse to conform to traditional beliefs and expectations. The lyrics describe the consequences of being punished for having an individual opinion and the cost that those who refuse to conform must pay. Despite these difficulties, the lyrics assert the importance of expressing oneself even though it may be uncomfortable or painful.
The lyrics also address the idea of faith being earned rather than blindly followed. The song claims that true faith cannot be forced upon someone or simply inherited; it must come from within and be based on personal beliefs and experiences. The chorus of the song reiterates the idea of having faith in oneself and living with self-acceptance despite the challenges of being different. The imagery of being “cast in the city of dis” represents a world that is unforgiving to those who dare to voice opinions that counter the established traditions and beliefs.
Overall, City of Dis is a powerful critique of the way society tends to silence those who voice dissent. The song encourages individuals to stay true to their convictions despite the challenges and to have faith in themselves rather than blindly following established beliefs.

By far one of my favorite Sepultura albums with Derrick. Simple and amazing.

Esse som esse album e muito foda
red_rogue
I like old Maxultura more than Derrikultura, but they kill it on this album.
Derrick Green really was hitting on all cylinders here.
Whole band was.

Maxultura>Derrikultura
But Quadra, Machine Messiah and this album are better than Roots
Change my mind
red_rogue
@Torres Pérez Brian Quadra is one of their best of any line-up, totally rips.
I know everybody loathes Roots, cuz they downtuned & that Korn producer was behind the board, & they threw in Indigenous Peoples Tribal elements & more Brazilian sounding beats (I don't see the problem with that aspect whatsoever) & loved that album too.
Nobody's gonna change my mind, either.
But sometimes I just gotta go way back & listen to Schizophrenia or Morbid Visions.
lil Bit
Chaos AD though! Best of groove thrash.

Unfortunately in this same album Igor left the band.
