The lyrics to Seven Mary Three's song "Roderigo" are somewhat cryptic and open to interpretation. The song tells the story of a woman who is something of a dominatrix, tying up and abusing men under the guise of giving them new names. She seems to enjoy the power that she has over them, and the lyrics suggest that she has done this before, and will do it again. The first verse seems to describe how she has tied up a man and called him Roderigo, suggesting that she has made him into some sort of monster. The second verse is more introspective, with the singer suggesting that he is the real monster, and that he too wants to be called Roderigo. He seems to be fascinated by the idea of being tied up and dominated by this woman, despite the fact that it is clearly doing him harm.

This is one of my favorite songs from them. I saw them in Myrtle Beach one night and sang every word like an annoying ass drunk. I guess the lead singer noticed me, and at the end said to me, "Hey, man. You wanna know what that song's about?" I shouted, "Yeah!" He said, "It's about Roderigo, man."

This entire album still gets to me! Every song has a story of life and i think it was a great album concept: the american standard. Sad that this song only has 15,000 views cause it deserves much more!
