Seventh Angel disbanded in 1992 then announced their reforming on May 23, 2008, followed by the release of their third album, The Dust Of Years in 2009, in which the band progressed from Christian to more neutral lyrics, and included notable death metal influences to their sound, influenced by other projects of Ian Arkley's such as the death/doom bands My Silent Wake and Ashen Mortality.

Seventh Angel's "The Charmer" is a song about the dangers of falling under the spell of someone who appears alluring and charming, but is really a deceiver. In the opening lines of the song, the singer invites the listener to come with them to forbidden lands, but all is not what it seems. The Charmer is introduced as a mesmerising figure who speaks words that intoxicate those who hear them, ensnaring a naive mind into a trance-like state. The Charmer's skills are so great that they can enhance desires and dreams beyond the confines of reality, melting the will of all who encounter them.
However, the dream eventually turns into a nightmare, and the listener becomes cursed, crumbling to dust. The singer has survived this encounter but is now a distraught shell, torn apart by the Charmer's power. The masque of falseness has taunted the singer well, and the Charmer is laughing, having left them to die. The power of deception is overwhelming, and the singer has swallowed the lie.
The song ends on a warning that those who stand upon holy ground shall not be found in the last days. The witch will burn, and the Charmer will flee from Jesus, the Lord of all purity. The listener is then encouraged to hold Jesus's hand, who will lead them to the promised land, behold the throne, and surrender to the son he raised—the journey home.
