Shapes
Shadrow Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've been waiting the longest time
For somebody to notice me
And the problems I have become
Riding shotgun in the passenger seat now
Spend a night with the oak and pine
To get away from the concrete lie
Lot of places when we were young
Drying up as the clock keeps ticking by

Everything is falling out of place
Need to get back to familiar space
Keep myself from breaking down into shapes
With you

Deeply wrapped in the red and brown
Because I've run out of ways to hide
Colors all turn to green in time
Unless you're living in a world that's been dyed now
I'm hanging out at the edge of town
To get a grip on reality
There's something living beyond the line
And I think it's started coming for me

Everything is falling out of place
Need to get back to familiar space
Keep myself from breaking down into shapes
With you

I don't want this nightmare to take over me
I will break this after it's done breaking me
I don't want this existentiality
I will take this time to work on fixing me

Everything is falling out of place
Need to get back to familiar space
Keep myself from breaking down into shapes

With you
With you

Overall Meaning

In "Shapes," Shadrow sings about his struggles with loneliness and finding his place in the world. He opens the song by expressing his longing for someone to notice him and the problems he's been having, which have been weighing heavily on him. The problems have become a constant companion, riding shotgun as if they have taken up permanent residence inside him. To escape from them, he spends a night with nature, surrounded by the reassuring presence of trees, seeking respite from the "concrete lie" of the city.

The chorus reveals the desperation he's feeling as everything in his life seems to be coming apart at the seams; he needs to reconnect with his roots and find a familiar place. He's trying to keep himself from falling apart and "breaking down into shapes." The shapes could be taken figuratively as a metaphor for his fragmented mental state or poetic language for his shattered emotions.

In the second verse, he acknowledges that he's been trying to hide away his problems by immersing himself in distractions, represented by the imagery of different colors. He's reaching his breaking point and goes to the outskirts to gain some perspective on his reality. There's something out there beyond his familiarity, and he feels that it's coming towards him.

Overall, "Shapes" is a poignant reflection of the human soul's struggles to find belonging, meaning, and purpose. It's an ode to the eternal human conflict between the need for connection and the fear and difficulty of opening oneself up to it fully.

HOLLY SHIT i just noticed that the car and the leaves kind of move a bit... it's a nice touch, subtle but the kind of detail that would make you say "WAIT... what's missing now?" if it were suddenly removed

wait does it actually move or am i really tired?

I can't stress enough how little views Shadrow gets now. Its such a shame cause these songs are always great

@BallonEEE.

@(STUDENT)William Giles his fnaf song never be alone was made 4 years ago, fandroids was a week ago, and fandroid himself gives him credit, so he does actually make these songs.

@spown.

2:19 Okay, I already thought this sounded like a song from the actual game, but this bass solo clenched it for me. I can see so clearly Mae just noodling around on the bass for a while and then just breakin' out this badass little riff. Bea's sitting off in the corner reading a book of some shit, and she just glances up and smiles this tiny, hidden smile, and Gregg just starts fuckin' cheering and Angus would doff his hat.
I can see it so clearly that it's actually a little scary. Great job man.

I’m so mad that I got into this game so late, but it’s great that people in the fandom can still make great stuff like this
