Vault 16 sounds like what the Institute COULD have been, if they'd had less ego and more humanitarianism. It's tragic that their goal is so noble, but so incredibly impossible.

Also, there's a machine in the institute which is probably responsible for all the stimpaks in the fallout universe; the thing sways left and right and pumps out huge ass piles of stimpaks, so much so they had to make the floor dump them into the areas below it with a trap door and seal it off with a metal wall and 3 oval shaped windows.

yes, the enclave has the right to re-govern the post-war civilization, but they still hold the remnants of their evil predecessors who strived to become evil demi-gods in their heads. That type of brainwashing is actually easy to remove, the consent however doesn't exist as the person who was indoctrinated will fight with literally every ounce of the flesh to let that evil ideology live again. information from fandom: Vault 16 is an abandoned vault located in the center of Saint Mark's Island, surrounded by the Glowing Swamp. The Vault's construction would be halted a month earlier before the Great War due to the lack of resources on the island. The Vault's construction was never completed and it would be sealed shut. The planned experiment for the Vault is how many people would be willing to be paid a large 20 thousand dollar fee to enter, promising a high-end hotel in the Vault. Due to the cancellation of the Vault it would remain dormant for centuries, and due to the fact that it was the only vault in the island, most people did not survive, but others would be ghoulified or had their own personal fallout shelter. After the Great War, many rumors would start spreading like wildfire about a 'hidden treasure' inside the vault. Even if it was impossible to enter the Vault, it didn't stop people from trying. Thousands would sail to find the treasure, until one day in 2287, a scavver would find a way to open the doors, only to find nothing in the Vault, the Vault was completely empty and half of it wasn't even constructed. Many groups would disband and many left the island after hearing the news. Many accepted the fact that Vault 16 had no treasure, but some fanatics are still trying to search every corner, to no avail. Another discovery was the fact that some mentally insane Ghoul lived there for more than 2 centuries.

If I had to guess, Vault 16 was stocked with a majority of Doctors and other health providers (though it likely had other civilians with different jobs) and one Super Computer tasked with observing the Doctors and the health of the vault dwellers. However, at one point, the doctors had to make a tough decision to save one resident who had a miniscule chance of living, but only by purposefully killing a terminally ill resident. They did so, and when asked why by the super computer, claimed it was because quote "The ends justify the means."

That would later spark the super computer to take the drastic action of sucking all the air out of the Vault, citing it's task of ensuring the health of the dwellers. It's logic was that if the dwellers were to cease all biological functions, they would be unable to contract disease and illness, claiming quote "the ends justify the means"

i don't exactly get it, is vault 16 fan made, or a cannon vault. cannonicly vault 16 was rumered to have treasure but ended up false. i didn't say anything that the song said, the closest thing i could find was vault 81.

Well there are tons of vaults in the game. In most vaults the government preformed tests on its inhabitants. In theroy, this vault was a medical facility, and something went wrong with a contained virus. And now only an ai remains

I think this is also, Although unknowingly, Pulls from a vault in a fanfic called Fallout Equestria, where the water chip gets damaged by a kid with a bb gun, the AI slowly Kills everyone off to keep up with the chip as it slowly brakes more and more.

It was nasty how it did it too, like sealing the health wing and pumping it with nerotoixien or dumping plazma into the school rooms.

I understand that this was a medical Vault, and it was supposed to find a cure or something, and for some time, it truly was a Utopia, but then the AI realised something, there are many variants to this, it could have been that there was an airborne virus and it decided that it had to suffocate all oxygenated cells (or something like that) or that the humans were the virus, and it simply closed the ventilation, and everyone suffocated to death. I know Vault Tec is known as evil and did many experiments on humans, but I don't think this Vault was evil, or maybe it was, but IDK.
