Arise
Shane&Shane Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
He is king
He is king
Arise, my soul awaken
All flesh is grass
Surely fading (fast)
Oh soon, it's all gone, we'll fly away
You are the maker, life sustainer
Everything comes and everything goes
When you give the word of mercy, oh Lord
Satisfy, you and I
Arise my soul awaken
That I might see
And be happy all my days
How long will there be mourning?
Return to us
Return to us
Teach me to number my days
At the most eighty years
Who cares about meaningless things?
I do I care about are to
And I care about yahoo
Things that are fleeting, fading away
Awaken my soul
Awaken my soul
The song "Arise" by Shane&Shane begins with the call to arise and awaken as the listener is reminded that God is King. The repetition of "He is king" emphasizes the importance of recognizing God's sovereignty. Then, the focus turns to the soul with the invitation to awaken, while acknowledging the fleeting nature of all flesh as it fades away. The lyrics highlight the truth that everything comes and goes, and only God sustains life. When we understand this, we can find satisfaction in God's mercy.
The second half of the song repeats the call to arise and awaken the soul, with the hope of seeing God and being happy in His presence. The lyrics echo the question, "How long will there be mourning?" and plead for God to return to us. The final verse teaches us to number our days and focus on what truly matters, rather than wasting our time on meaningless things. The song ends with the final appeal to awaken the soul.

I've seen them live from the 3rd row and I can assure you that they sing for real... In fact they blow you away even more in person because they are just amazing, talented guys that God has richly blessed.... I think a better argument would be how much glory Shane and Shane bring to God through their talent and worship of Him
