She grew up in Brooklyn & whilst at college, joined the New York Jazz Ensemble as a singer, subsequently meeting drummer Lenny White & sang with Brownstone (a group she started with Russell Taylor), leading to some recording. Her first single, "Let the Music Play" (issued as a 12" on Emergency, New York). Produced by Mark Liggett & Chris Barbosa - the track's upfront heavy, staccato beats & synth bass, marked it as an electro single, The record became a monster club, pop & world hit, pumping its way to #8 pop, on the Billboard chart, selling sold eight million copies. Her début album, Let the Music Play (Feb 1984), went gold, peaking at 32 pop (Mar 1984). She followed that with the Top Ten rnb hit Give Me Tonight & My Heart's Divided.

Do You Wanna Get Away (May 1985), was Shannon's second Mirage album - The title track single hit number 13 R&B in spring 1985. Her third album Love Goes All the Way was released on Atlantic in 1986, with the singles "Dancin'" "Criminal" and "Prove Me Right" Shannon's dominated the dance floor for a decade. Known as the international Dance Queen of the World. A decline in her career because some litigation surrounding "Let the Music Play", the decline of dance-oriented radio stations, the loss of club airtime on mainstream radio stations, and the inevitable "Let the Music Play" sound-alike clones that surfaced. Nevertheless, Shannon appeared on a 1999 segment of VH1's Where Are They Now, vowing to return to the top of the charts; the following spring she released the album The Best Is Yet to Come." I feel bad for Shannon. She's the only soloist left, and she knows that she can't just afford to stand and sing anymore. The judges don't want vocalists, they want idols. Shannon might be the strongest vocalist and she might be a nice dancer, BUT singing and dancing at the same time isn't easy especially with no backing track to lean on when you're short on breath. Lucky for Shannon, she made it to the top 4 but I can't say if she'll make it farther without a better song choice. I wish her the best though

Marjorie Jayme Yes, but first and foremost she is a vocalist. She didn't even really receive much training before her debut because she already had vocal lessons from her time doing musical theatre and she already knew how to dance. At most, she continued to work on her Korean. I feel like that is truly Shannon's biggest flaw that she's shown on this show, not that "you can't convey emotions" bullshit, or the "You lack personality" dribble, but her singing while dancing, which is only worsen since she has no backing track, group members, or background singers and has nearly no room to breath.

i know shannon not really did good in this performace but i know she tried a lot.
She is not good at dancing. So it's hard to dance and sing. But she did that because she wanted to have the best performace.
She was debuted and she had to fight alone from the beginning until now. She suffered a lot of pressure. I hope everyone is not too strict with this little girl.

it's quite difficult for her as well, i believe. looking at how the other 2 soloist who chose ballad is out of the top4, i think shannon can only compete with the trainees and boyfriend when she sings fast paced songs like this. plus when other group splits the lines she has to finish the whole so by herself. totally at a disadvantage for her. just hoping she will be in the finals. :)

This is a live performance so they can't do audio smoothing and other post production stuff they can do if they have a week or so of time to work on the sound recordings. If you listen to various music programs were they make sure the artists are singing live you will always hear that. That's one way to really tell if they are performing or just lip sinking with a backing tack. If it sounds like the recording. It is the recording.

ATM, I think kwins has the highest chance of winning because the judge's clearly want idols(especially kriesha and sohee). minju, Soomin, and go Ara got some criticisms, so it would be harder for them. I never comment on things like these, but srsly guys, she did a great job. Yes sometimes it was a bit short-breathed, but I really enjoyed her performance as it made me happy(no pun intended) and to me she somehow shined(?) Yes she is a vocalist, but she tried to become an idol(in the sense that she danced instead of singing only), which shows she's able to adapt. Hopefully she'll wow us in her last performace!

There was something off with this performance but she did it well saying that she carried the whole song herself filling the stage up by herself without someone else along side of her. I can already tell the outcome of this show already but shannon made it to the top 4 so i'm not even complaining b/c she's basically the most underrated right now on the show but i'm hoping yg signs her regardless b/c he seems to see the great things in her unlike the other judges and i mean aye it'll take forever for her to 'debut' but she'll have that better treatment and she can get that recognition as a solo artist ^^ either or i'm happy enough that she made it this far <3

Sorry to say this but she's had her fifteen minutes. I mean, she already debuted and was active for a few years. She's a great singer, but so are many others in Korea. I don't feel anything when she sings. She would be a great vocal teacher and coach. And maybe she could go into singing at musicals? I think she would be great for that.

High waisted pants with the loose top would have suited Shannon better because it would have emphasized her long legs. Or her pants would have still worked if she had a fitted top on because it would accentuate her curves. The stylists she had on the show should have paid more attention to these details. It kinda looks like they stopped making an effort in dressing her up during this stage

Since her strengths are vocals and experience, this performance is somewhat disappointing. I think to sing the whole song while also dancing is not an excuse for her to not perform well as she has been performing as soloist even when she debuted. She has good vocals but the overall impact of her performances is somewhat lacking. Also the girl groups at the start were also disadvantaged since Shannon already debuted as a singer and she is more experienced than the others (well except for minju).

She was okay but to be honest I think she's starting to fade a bit, I like her talented and pretty girl but in my opinion Ma EunJin did better last round and should have been here aside from her. Don't get me wrong Shannon is great but something always seems to be missing and her performances are getting weaker it seems. Best of luck to her cuz she's talented but I really don't know a bit disappointing given how much talent she does have.
