From her childhood days of acting, dancing and singing in live theater and performance events, entering and winning a stream of singing and art competitions, and gracing the TV screen in numerous advertisements, Shayna has delivered her creative talents in a variety of venues. After her debut as a challenger on a singing competition television show Asia Bagus, she then met up with a singing partner and was offered recording contracts by both SONY-Malaysia and EMI- Malaysia. At the same time, she was offered a live television show host spot, for a daily show called 'Speak Up', where she interviewed many international stars at primetime on a major TV network. She chose this instead, and by the age of fifteen, she became a TV celebrity in Malaysia. She soon graced the cover of several national magazines and gained exposure and fame in modeling for advertising giants such as Coca-Cola, Dove, Holiday Inn, and Nokia, among others.
Shayna attended the famous Berklee College of Music where she consumed more musical knowledge and cultivated long-lasting relationships with other talented musicians. She quickly became a gem in the eyes of her peers and professors who recognized her powerful abilities and her driven personality, so with support and encouragement from her mentors, Shayna decided it was time to launch her career as a singer with a difference. After leaving Berklee for New York City, Shayna completed recording and released her first debut album 'Beyond Borders' in February of 2006 and has successfully gained wide support from her listeners. In July of 2006, Shayna's first single 'Sweet While It Lasted' started spinning on two national Malaysian hit radio stations, HITZ FM and XFRESH FM. While still pursuing her career here in the United States, Shayna's hit single gained momentum very quickly and on its own merit, sans promotion, made it to Number 1 on the Top 10 charts on XFRESH FM in just a mere two weeks. This sparked the first collaboration with two local artists Shazzy and JFK on a song called 'Kali Pertama' which is one of a few singles released from her second album 'Half A World Away'.
In March 2007, Shayna returned to her homeland Malaysia for a four-month promotional tour to release and promote her second album 'Half A World Away'. Through generous media and press exposure, live performances, public appearances, together with her warm and cheerful personality and her fresh new sound in the music scene, she managed to captivate the hearts of many. Both her Malay singles 'Kali Pertama' and 'Percayalah Impianmu' began climbing up the charts very quickly on multiple national radio stations while her English single 'Endless Love' landed the Number 1 spot on HITZ FM - the Number 1 English radio station in the nation.
After only 3 months of releasing and promoting her second album 'Half a World Away', Shayna was nominated for 3 categories in the 2007 ERA Awards for 'Best Pop Song', 'Best Female Vocals' and 'Best New Artist'. With the release of 'Half A World Away' and her current (work in progress) 2008 EP project under her belt, Shayna is determined to make her mark and climb up the International radio charts someday soon.
Shayna delivers an amazing and dynamic live show that displays her captivating power and personality, her exotic beauty, and her incredible musical prowess. Shayna Zaid is positioning herself as a new force in the music world that is sure to be enrapturing. Shayna's music can be heard and purchased online and at all local record stores throughout Malaysia.

Take Your Time
Shayna Zaid Lyrics

To heal, a broken heart
Don't apologize, I've been there
It may take a month or two
Or years, to finally say goodbye
To your memories of him, (just)
Take your time,
Take your time,
My dear, please
Take your time,
And dry your eyes, please,
Take your time,
I'm here.
Don't let your mind go running wild,
He's not worth your time
Think of all the things he's done
Don't justify to satisfy
Your thoughts of how it should've been,
It was never meant to be, (just)
Take your time,
And dry your eyes, please
Take your time,
My dear, please
Take your time,
And dry your eyes, please,
Take your time,
I'm here
It's just a chapter in your life,
And it's time to turn the page,
Life's too short to live in the past,
It's time to make that change, make that change
Take your time,
And dry your eyes, please
Take your time,
My dear, please
Take your time,
And dry your eyes, please,
Take your time,
I'm here
The song "Take Your Time" by Shayna Zaid is a comforting and encouraging ballad about moving on from a past relationship. The lyrics urge the listener to take their time in healing their broken heart, reassuring them that it may take as long as necessary to say goodbye to the memories of their past love. The phrase "Take your time" is repeated throughout the song as a reminder to the listener to not rush the process and to allow themselves to fully heal before moving on.
The lyrics also caution against dwelling on the past or letting thoughts of how things should have been consume the listener. The song acknowledges that the past relationship was just a chapter in one's life, and that it's time to turn the page and make a change. The repeated reassurance "I'm here" drives home the message that the listener is not alone in the process of moving on and finding closure.
