You've Learned To Live Without Me
Sheena Easton Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'm just a memory
A torn page in your history
A shadow in the night
When you turn out the light
You've learned not to dream about me
You've learned to live without me
Yesterday that you left behind
A candle in the rain
Yesterday forgotten flame
That rainy day has finally found me
You've learned to live without me
I hear you're doing fine
Found other things to take up your time
You probably don't remember
Ever loving me
We danced through all those days together
I thought that dance would last forever
Funny how forever fades away
You've learned to live without
I hear you're doing fine
Found other things to take up your time
You probably don't remember
Ever loving me
We danced through all those days together
I thought that dance would last forever
Funny how forever fades away
You've learned to live without me
You've learned to live without me
I'm just a memory
A torn page in your history
A shadow in the night
When you turn out the light
You've learned not to dream about me
You've learned to live without me
But no matter what i do
I can't seem to learn to live
I can't seem to learn to live
Without you
The song "You've Learned to Live Without Me" by Sheena Easton talks about moving on from a past relationship. The lyrics convey a sense of resignation and acceptance that the singer's former partner has learned to forget her and move on. The repeated verses "You've learned to live without me" emphasize the finality of the situation and the realization that the singer is no longer part of her ex-partner's life.
The opening lines "I'm just a memory, a torn page in your history, a shadow in the night, when you turn out the light" suggest that the singer's presence in her ex-partner's life has now been relegated to the past. The reference to a "candle in the rain" and a "forgotten flame" conveys a sense of melancholy and evokes the idea of something that has been extinguished. The chorus "You've learned to live without me" is a powerful portrayal of a realization that is difficult to accept but is ultimately necessary to move on.

on A Dream Worth Keeping
Anytime you want to be right here
Just imagine me and all this will appear
You can keep this moment all your life
Forever near
A dream worth keeping
When your feeling lost I'll be your star
Just reach out and touch me no matter where you are
In a world where precious things are disappearing over night
Just keep my star in sight
[Chorus]
I believe we found a dream that's worth keeping
For more than just a day
And even though the winds of change may come sweeping
It's still a dream worth keeping
So don't let it fade away
Maybe you'll be in some distant land
Feelin' all alone, but I'll be close at hand
And every time you see a rainbow
Paint the sky behind the rain
You'll be here again
[Chorus]
I believe we found a dream that's worth keeping
For more than just a day
And even though the winds of change may come sweeping
It's still a dream worth keeping
[Chorus]
Some day you might be thinking
Life has passed you by
Spirits might be sinking
Hope in short supply
And that's the reason why
That's the reason why
I know this dream's worth keeping
As long as it will stay
Even when you see the darkness come creepin'
A dream worth keeping
Will never fade away
