Raised in Cali, communicating a message as an artist … Read Full Bio ↴The Sho Story:
Raised in Cali, communicating a message as an artist has always been a part of who Sho is. Introduced to Hip Hop at a young age, he grew to love its content and attitude. Living in Southern California during the height of Gangsta Rap presented its challenges to many youth, as well as Sho. In high school Sho and some friends from his neighborhood formed a rap group that began touring with major recording artists. But his life took a different turn after the rap group fizzled, and close friends were killed and others incarcerated due to the gang life they led. The message of his life began to change.
He decided to heed his father's advice and apply to college, pursuing education instead of the streets. At the time, Christ was not a part of his life, but his older brother, his father, and a leader at his church, had always promoted education and having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Sho continued on to Tuskegee University, and it was there, that the seeds that they planted in him finally took root.
While in college, through the lives of some solid Christians on campus, the Lord rescued him and redeemed his heart. Sho's message changed from promoting himself and Hip Hop to promoting Christ, and now he wants the world to see the Lord at work in him. Our popular culture today elevates the lifestyles of rappers who promote ideas that only destroy our culture, but because of God's grace Sho has a different message: "Turn My Life Up"
What if the Programmed Culture could see the change Christ made in him and be transformed by God's Grace to impact lives and revolutionize our world? Not desiring fame or personal glory, Sho invites you to listen to his message and see how God can "Rebuild the Culture"

And we just flipped it like
Let's go
You more precious than a diamond, girl, I see you shine
I ain't insecure, girl, I know you mine
You ain't Oakland, girl, but I call you my "bae"
When silence is violence, you know what to say
I know it's hard to stay grounded when you know you fly
We can take this to the floor and we can groove
I ain't got nothing to prove, I'll just leave that up to you
Translate your body language every time you move
Even in a crowded room, it's just me and you
We can build a future, build dreams, build children
Man, forget these other women, you Number One in the building
If it wasn't for love, where would I be?
Let me tell you 'bout love, it'll set you free
Unconditional love, that's what I need
And if it wasn't for love, where would I be?
Ooh, my lady, you got me going crazy
You got me going crazy, baby
Yeah, if it wasn't for love
"Let the track breathe real quick
A'ight now play it back"
They say that beauty's in the eye of the beholder
I'll tell you that you're beautiful every time that I hold ya
You know her, Kadisha, tryna find Felicia
Rashad, oh my God, I just think I found my Gena
Moesha, she just made me a believer
Ring on her finger, she know I will never leave her
Love has me on a full-time commitment
You occupy my heart, other girls got evicted
Uh huh, one of a kind, character shines
You dynamite fine, you blow my mind
Keep her on my arm, watch her steal my time
Fall in love every day, forget a pickup line
Clap it up, clap it up now for L-O-V-E
Clap it up, clap it up for love, ya dig?
Clap it up, clap it up now for L-O-V-E
Clap it up, clap it up for love, ya dig?
Clap it up, clap it up now for L-O-V-E
Clap it up, clap it up for love
If it wasn't for love, where would I be?
One thing about love, it'll set you free
Unconditional love, that's what I need
And if it wasn't for love, where would I be?
Ooh, my lady, you got me going crazy
You got me going crazy, baby
Yeah, if it wasn't for love
(That's right)
Alright, now, look here, baby girl
You fine and I know you think that I'm fine
It don't make no sense why we can't be fine together
I mean, let's do the math
One plus one equals two, me and you
Ya dig? Know'm sayin'?
Uh, because if you do that math wrong, you gon' end up with a zero
Are you pickin' up what I'm puttin' down, baby girl?
Alright, 'cause the keys are tryna tell you how much I'm diggin' ya, girl
The opening lines of "Love 1959" are a tribute to James Brown's classic, soulful track "If It Wasn't For Love." However, whereas Brown's song was about how he'd be lost without love, Sho Baraka's version is about finding love and celebrating it. The lyrics revolve around the appreciation of a special lady who's more precious than a diamond. The artist doesn't hesitate to proclaim his love and devotion, recognizing that even though other women might try to catch his attention, she's the only one who occupies his heart. He acknowledges the difficulties that they might come across, but he's confident that they can overcome anything together if they hold on to their love.
As the track progresses, we see the artist pondering the significance of love in our lives. Sho Baraka outlines how his appreciation of love has grown to encompass unconditional love, which he suggests is what we all need. He underscores his commitment to his special lady, excitingly exclaiming that she's got him going crazy. Throughout the song, he aims to convey the idea that love is essential, powerful, and fulfilling. Love has led him to a beautiful woman, and he's not taking that for granted.
