Raised in Cali, communicating a message as an artist … Read Full Bio ↴The Sho Story:
Raised in Cali, communicating a message as an artist has always been a part of who Sho is. Introduced to Hip Hop at a young age, he grew to love its content and attitude. Living in Southern California during the height of Gangsta Rap presented its challenges to many youth, as well as Sho. In high school Sho and some friends from his neighborhood formed a rap group that began touring with major recording artists. But his life took a different turn after the rap group fizzled, and close friends were killed and others incarcerated due to the gang life they led. The message of his life began to change.
He decided to heed his father's advice and apply to college, pursuing education instead of the streets. At the time, Christ was not a part of his life, but his older brother, his father, and a leader at his church, had always promoted education and having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Sho continued on to Tuskegee University, and it was there, that the seeds that they planted in him finally took root.
While in college, through the lives of some solid Christians on campus, the Lord rescued him and redeemed his heart. Sho's message changed from promoting himself and Hip Hop to promoting Christ, and now he wants the world to see the Lord at work in him. Our popular culture today elevates the lifestyles of rappers who promote ideas that only destroy our culture, but because of God's grace Sho has a different message: "Turn My Life Up"
What if the Programmed Culture could see the change Christ made in him and be transformed by God's Grace to impact lives and revolutionize our world? Not desiring fame or personal glory, Sho invites you to listen to his message and see how God can "Rebuild the Culture"

The world will get rocked
I pray they see this ain't a game
Stop passing the rock
He holds the top stop but
He's still getting mocked
When He cracks the sky all
That mocking gone stop
Rock n' roll, a little something
Something when He rocks the globe
You think you're on top
He'll rock your role
He ain't Lee Jerkins but He'll rock ya soul
(Rock Soul)
He took many lashes and took the blows
Wore the crown of thorns and rocked the robe
Even took the cross and struck the pose
He knew on the third day
He'll roll the stone
Then I saw something I never saw before
High and exalted I saw the Lord
Then I wrote a song about how I saw the Lord
I tried to tell everybody that I saw the Lord
Look to the heavens it's a bird in the sky
Look a little closer it's the Lord on high
Lord and King on His robe and thigh
Get your passport cause the Lord's so fly
Whether it's the Rapture or
The second flood
Think about this for a second cuz
Maybe you think you're tough and
They call you thug
You sure you want to square
Up with the Lord above?
Cause we see the end, know we gone win
Trying not to sin
Live off His word and oxygen
Till He comes back we're building
Up the Church for Him
To all my people on the left
All my people on the right
From the front to the back
Shout it loud all night
Maranatha (come and get me) 4X
To all my people on the right
All my people on the left
From the back to the front
Shout it loud to your death
Maranatha (come and get me)
All rise for the coming of
The King of the Jews
Follow me through the Bible while
I bring you the truth
Open book and take a look and you can
See this Dude, overlook Him and forsook Him
You'll be singing the blues
You can say I want to see Him
Matter of fact I want to watch Him, you can
Say I wanna be Him
Matter of fact I wanna copy Him
You can say I'm getting deep
Man I'm going for
The bottom, you can say I really need Him
Man I can't live without Him
I can't wait till I get to go on home
When you hear the trump I'll be long gone
I'll be caught up in the sky saying
So long, you waiting on the Lord
Just hold on
This should be the hope of every Christian
Listen to me every Christian
Pray for maranatha
His quick return for every Christian
(so all my people on the
Left) are you looking for
The coming of the King from
His throne on high?
(and all my people on the right)
Has the knowledge of the
Coming of the King put a change in your life?
If not then it should baby
This not just a good fable
This God never would play you
His Son died so He could save you
This is the hope of the ones
In the 1 that's coming
It doesn't yet appear but we'll be
Like the 1 that's coming
The 1 that runs it
Eternal with the Father by
The Spirit of promise
Picture people living life according to this
Promise, affected by the accounts that the
Son of Man is coming
That's a banging motivator that
Should get your heartrate
Up, as you're reaching for the crown
Your reward from the Maker
Maranatha Lord come get me quick
Jesus I'm sick of this flesh
I'm a mess, I need You
Look forward to Your glory revealed
When I see You what can compare to that?
Nothing's ahead of that
Not even the bread you stack
His glory hit harder then lead you pack
So gone head and make your bread
Blow bud and shake your dreads
Cause that's what John did
But He came and saved men raised in 3 days
Defeated the grave that He laid in
Now death where is your sting?
Ain't nothing left to bring
Cause He resurrected, perfected
What can affect this King?
He's coming back for a Bride in a red veil
You'll see He's still alive when He
Cracks the sky like an eggshell
So we holler maranatha
Cause we treasure His love
Nothing on earth can measure the
Pleasure felt from the Son
Tell me where will you stand
When the 1 saw as a Lamb
Shows He's a Lion and worship
Is all that He demands
The lyrics of Sho Baraka's song "Maranatha" convey a deep anticipation for the return of Jesus Christ, referred to as "the Rock" in the song. The song starts off by expressing a prayer for people to realize that this is not a game and to stop ignoring the significance of Jesus' return. Despite being mocked and disregarded, the song highlights that when Jesus comes again, all mockery will cease.
The lyrics metaphorically compare the theme of the song to rock and roll music, using the concept of rocking the globe. It suggests that even those who believe they are on top will be shaken by Jesus. The mention of Lee Jerkins, likely a play on producer and songwriter Rodney Jerkins, emphasizes that Jesus will rock people's souls in a powerful way.
The lyrics then reflect upon Jesus' suffering, including lashes, blows, wearing a crown of thorns, and being crucified, all while maintaining a strong and confident demeanor. The mention of Jesus knowing that he would roll the stone on the third day refers to his resurrection.
Further in the song, the lyrics encourage listeners to look up to the heavens and recognize Jesus as the Lord and King, high and exalted. The line "Get your passport cause the Lord's so fly" adds a touch of humor to convey the idea that Jesus is incredibly cool and worth following.
The song also includes a call for self-reflection, urging individuals to consider their own toughness and whether they would dare to challenge the Lord above. It encourages maintaining faith and living by God's word until he comes back, emphasizing the importance of building up the Church during this time.
The repeated chorus of "Maranatha (come and get me)" expresses the longing for Jesus' return and the desire to be taken by him, showing the artist's yearning for the culmination of their faith.
Overall, the song encourages listeners to recognize Jesus as the King, to live in anticipation of his return, and to find hope and motivation in the belief that he will come again and fulfill his promises.
