Shooter Jennings lived his first few years in a crib on his parents' tour bus. By age five, he was playing drums. Between tours, he took piano lessons. He started playing guitar at fourteen and sometimes played in his father's band. He and his father recorded a few things together when they happened to have some microphones set up and the tape recorder plugged in. At age sixteen, Jennings discovered rock 'n' roll.
As an adult, Jennings left Nashville, Tennessee to seek his fortunes in Los Angeles. He assembled and performed with Stargunn, a southern rock band whose sound he described as Lynyrd Skynyrd mutating into Guns N' Roses. Stargunn performed at local clubs for six years, built a rabid following and earned praise from the local music press. But the Hollywood party scene eventually began to bother him. He says, "I was posing as a rocker—a country guy trying to be something he wasn't."
On March 30, 2003, Jennings dissolved Stargunn and moved to New York City to spend time with his girlfriend and sort out what he wanted to do next. An unexpected gig at the House of Blues a few weeks later revived his creativity. He returned to Los Angeles to form another band, the 357s. After six weeks in the studio, he completed his first solo album, Put the O Back in Country. Universal South released the album in early 2005.
Jennings portrayed his father in the Johnny Cash biopic, Walk the Line. He is the host of Shooter Jennings' Electric Rodeo, a two-hour weekly music show on Sirius Satellite Radio's Outlaw Country channel. He currently dates Drea de Matteo. Shooter Jennings' second solo album "Electric Rodeo" was released on April 04, 2006.

Just be dirty play dirty and asking my knees
Let all the cowardice and according me
Took my sculpture out of rout, took all difficulties
My diary all is torment to the verse I just care to be
It cares all the sensity, how I can make
The hallows it grows, the large is coming down
Sometimes you got to make it up, and take the low low road
Be less the same upon the problems betweens
That have myself to love it two time chasin'
When she love I want to die, I didn't mean to live
The man walks and never assisted with all kinds of sweet
My loneliness is saved, so you got try hard
You'll find a woman that will love you, but the men that you loved
But the hallows it grows, the large is coming down
Sometimes you got to make up, and take the low low road
Sometimes you got to make it quick, and take the low low road
When I took myself to nature I didn't take me longer
We realize that helping, no play long
I mean look inside of mother, but my heart is my fault
I keep going in my rather to be alone
My diary all is torment to the verse I just care to be
All care the sensity, how I can make
The hallows it grows, the large is coming down
Sometimes you got to make up, and take the low low road
Sometimes you got to make it up, and take the low low road
Sometimes you got to make up, and take the low low road
Sometimes you change or never change, and take the low low road.
The lyrics of Shooter Jennings's song The Low Road convey a sense of perseverance in the face of adversity. He references being bullied or taken advantage of, urging the listener to "be less the same upon the problems betweens" in order to solve them. The singer describes feeling lonely and misunderstood, trying to figure out how to navigate life. He suggests that sometimes, in order to get through tough times, you have to "take the low low road" and make difficult choices or sacrifices.
Jennings's use of imagery in the lyrics adds to the sense of struggle and effort. The line "let all the cowardice and according me" implies that others have been unfair or unkind to the singer. He talks about his "diary all is torment" and the "difficulties" he faces. However, there is also a sense of hope and determination in lines such as "my loneliness is saved, so you got try hard / You'll find a woman that will love you." Jennings seems to be saying that even when things are hard, or when we're at our lowest point, there is still a way forward if we're willing to take it.
