Trash
Show Me the Body Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Yeah you already know what time it is
Time is of the essence mothafucka

Take drugs when I need to
Get love when I need to, Fuck when I need to
Show love when I need to
Get rough if in need get up if I need to
Trust none when I need to
Feel done when I need to none when I need two
Abhorred when I need to
Good lord if I need take yours if I need to

Come up catch slip back
Coma shaft open gas

Don't know what I need
You keep telling me
Get away from me
Hundred ways to make me feel
Only one way to make me heal

Come up catch slip back
Coma shaft open gas

Take drugs when I need to
Get love when I need to, Fuck when I need to
Show love when I need to
Get rough if in need get up if I need to
Trust none when I need to
Feel done when I need to none when I need two
Abhorred when I need to
Good lord if I need take yours if I need to

One bottle when I need two
I sip when I need one bottle when I need two
I hit when I need to
Cut wrist when I need I lick when I need to
On the street when I need to
I bleed when I need to I eat when I need to
Fought cops when I need to
On the street when I need to eat when I need to

Come up catch slip back
Coma shaft open gas

Don't know what I need
You keep telling me
Get away from me

Hundred ways to make me feel
Only one way to make me heal

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Show Me the Body's song "Trash" seem to describe the experiences related to drug abuse and the feelings that come with it. "Time is of the essence mothafucka," signifies the urgency of the situation and the need to act fast. The singer of the song goes through phases of using drugs, seeking love, showing affection, getting rough and getting up when knocked down. At times he trusts none, feels done or abhorred, and takes whatever (good Lord) he or she needs to feel better. There is a clear push and pull between the singer's need for drugs and their need to heal. The singer seems to be struggling with different things, and at times he or she feels lost and unsure about what they really need. The song's final lines, "Don't know what I need, You keep telling me, Hundred ways to make me feel, Only one way to make me heal" sums up the difficulty of the singer's journey to healing.

The song is very metaphorical in that sense, where all the actions described are a reflection of deeper emotions and struggles that the singer is going through. The chorus "Come up catch slip back, Coma shaft open gas" is a reference to the feeling of being high and then falling back down to the lows of reality. Similarly, "One bottle when I need two, I hit when I need to, Cut wrist when I need, I lick when I need to" refers to the self-medication that the singer utilizes to numb their pain.

Overall, "Trash" is a powerful and poignant song that explores a set of struggles that many individuals face when it comes to drug abuse and addiction. The song's raw energy and the artist's unique style communicate the intense emotions that come with addiction and the challenging journey to healing and recovery.

“Come up...Slip... Open...gas...” He’s setting a trap to kill the people who tell him what to do all the time. First, the people will come up from the trap in an attempt to escape. They will slip and fall back down, then a device will gas them

The repetition of “when I need to” suggests that he’s coping with something. This might not be a traumatic event per sey, it could just be the need to do what one must, to survive the bitterness of life.

He does what he needs to survive; don’t get in his way cause he’s not afraid to take your life should that be necessary

Something bad happened in the past. He needs to heal. There’s hundreds of drugs he could take that would provide temporary relief yet only one path to actual recovery. What that path is, he wont know until he’s lived it, which takes more patience and time and will be harder. People keep offering him solutions but they should all just fuck off because they can’t help him

(Idea: song is a response to the people/parents/society who don’t understand the pain he goes through following a traumatic event?)

At least, that’s my opinion of what it is
