By this point, the band had relocated to America -- with Mileski replaced by new drummer Mark Goodwin -- and soon landed a deal with Virgin Records. Sick Puppies' sophomore LP, Dressed Up as Life, arrived in April of 2007. The exposure brought to them by the Free Hugs video helped the single "All the Same" reach number eight on Billboard's Modern Rock chart. Their second U.S. single, "My World," also reached number 20 on the Modern Rock chart and was followed by three more singles in 2008. Working with American production team Rock Mafia, Sick Puppies' delivered their third album, Tri-Polar, in 2009, which rose to number 31 on the U.S. Billboard 200. Less than a year later, they released the EP Live & Unplugged, which contained acoustic versions of songs from the album. A second companion EP, this one called Polar Opposite and also containing acoustic versions of songs from Tri-Polar, appeared in 2011. Produced again by Rock Mafia, their fourth album, Connect, fared even better, reaching number 17 on the Top 200 in the summer of 2013. In spite of their rising success, Connect would prove to be their last album with founding member Moore, who left the band in late 2014. Within days of this announcement, Anzai was approached by Texas-born singer and guitarist Bryan Scott, whose audition tape quickly landed him the job as Moore's replacement. The new lineup began writing and recording material for their fourth album, teasing with a new single, "Stick to Your Guns," in early 2016.

Anywhere But Here

But today, you fell away
Now what I hold are the memories we barely made
I stood on the edge of your bridge
Until I felt the rain push me away
My confusion left me fast as the vertigo came
What I believed to be true
I just projected it over your beautiful screen
I self medicated my way
Through this mess that we made
So I could stay, there was nothing but I waited, I waited
This was my mistake
Broken are plans we made
So I will be traveling any place
'Cause anywhere's better than
Here we rest in peace
Rubble beneath my feet
I shouldn't have followed you anywhere
'Cause anywhere's better than here
Where is the space I could move?
Where could I rest my head?
There's nothing left for me here
It's hard to leave behind
The one thing that made me feel alive
So I slide from paranoid to paradise
This was my mistake
Broken are plans we made
So I will be traveling any place
'Cause anywhere's better than here
This was my mistake
Broken are plans we made
Here we rest in peace
Rubble beneath my feet
I shouldn't have followed you anywhere
'Cause anywhere's better than here
The song "Anywhere But Here" by Sick Puppies is about the aftermath of a failed relationship and the struggles of moving on. The opening lines "I held onto you for as long as I could, but today, you fell away" suggests a sense of loss, possibly due to a breakup. The memories of the relationship, despite how few they might have been, are all the singer has left. The bridge mentioned in the second line could be a literal bridge, representing a point where the singer tried to hold onto the relationship, but the rain pushing away symbolizes the inevitability of the relationship's collapse.
Additionally, the singer acknowledges their own denial about the state of the relationship. The line "I just projected it over your beautiful screen" conveys how the singer had a false sense of security and hope that things would work out with their partner. The section mentions drug use ("I self-medicated my way through this mess that we made") - a coping mechanism that may have fueled the singer's delusions. However, with the breakdown of the relationship, the singer realizes their mistake with the chorus reflecting on how "anywhere's better than here" - anywhere where memories of the relationship aren't present.
