During the Halloween weekend of 1996, Siebenbürgen recorded their second demo, Ungentum Pharelis. With this demo they landed a contract with Napalm Records, and recorded their first Album, in April '97, entitled Loreia. In January/February 1998, Siebenbürgen recorded their second album, Grimjaur, which was released in May of the same year.
Both demos and the two first full-length releases featured Lovisa Hallstedt's vocals and violin playing skills. But in 1999 a new female vocalist Kicki Höijertz replaced Lovisa.
The following February, the band entered Six String Studio and recorded their third full-length release, Delictum. This album served as a fresh start for the band, which had been suffering major personal problems after the recording of Grimjaur. Loreia and Grimjaur had made use of Swedish lyrics, but with Delictum, Siebenbürgen broke out of their self-imposed mold by writing most of the lyrics appearing on Delictum in English. However, the themes remained the same. The lyrics continued to depict the creatures of old folklore, brought to life in the shape of dark poetic fairytales.
In the year 2000, Marcus Ehlin decided to relinquish his guitar playing to focus solely on his vocals. As a result, Richard Bryngelsson joined the line-up. Soon thereafter, Siebenbürgen began work on new material for their fourth album Plagued Be Thy Angel.
After the release of Plagued Be Thy Angel, Ekström and Höjiertz left the band and were replaced by Fredrik Folkare and Turid Walderhaug. Turid was later replaced by Erika Roos in 2003. Niklas Sundin joined the band in late 2004 on bass, and Siebenbürgen decided to fire Fredrik Folkare due to directional differences.
In 2005, Siebenbürgen recorded their fifth album, Darker Designs & Images, with Marcus Ehlin on guitar once again. Darker Designs & Images took Siebenbürgen’s music one step further. An excellent mix of classic heavy metal and brutal death metal, the album was recorded in Sundown Studios, Sweden.
During the years Siebenbürgen has played over 100 shows, including 5 European tours and a Mexican tour. They have played together with bands such as Hollenthon, Graveworm, Agathodaimon, Tristania.
In February 2006 Siebenbürgen decided to split up. Yet, in late 2007 Siebenbürgen resurrected, signing a deal with Massacre Records, with both old and new members, M. Ehlin handling the vocals and bass, R. Bryngelsson on guitar, D. Ekdahl bashing the drums and Johnny Gunther torturing the keys. Female vocals were now done by Lisa Bohwalli Simonsson.
The band released their last album Revelation VI in 2008 and finally split up in 2009.
Born Under a Black Sun
Siebenbürgen Lyrics

For whom I could not speak or name
I treasure behold this solitude of night
My blackened soul, forever cold
A damnation burned in black flames
As darkened shadows fall
Shades of black wings clad the sky
Woe to this ngith
A blessing of shadows awaits me
Behold all it s glory
As darkness crupts and transforms me
Damned to be, great fallen one
Unleash the storms of wrath
Grant me might by poisoned blade
A legion in one soul
Unbounded by the flames of hate
A beast of fear released
Shadow stalker of the lost worlds
I am to be
As the venmo spreads inside
Its chant begins to glow
I travel through the seven worlds
... in awe
Demon of black shadows worn
Corne forht as night time falls
Plead the gifts of nightmares born
Abiding sacrifice
Ungodly speaks through me
A legion in one soul
Unforgotten sacrilege, darkenss made a king
The lyrics to Siebenbürgen's song "Born Under a Black Sun" delve deep into themes of damnation, solitude, darkness, and transformation. The vocalist starts by praising the damnation that is burning in flames, seemingly giving in to the darkness that he cannot name but also cannot ignore. He treasures the solitude of night, which could imply that he feels more at home in darkness rather than in light. The entire song remains within the same theme of darkness and damnation, with the vocalist speaking unapologetically about his blackened soul that is forever cold.
As the shades of black wings clad the sky, the moonlit silver fades in raven's eyes, making one wonder if the vocalist is not human but rather a creature of the night. The chorus speaks of being damned to be the great fallen one, unleashing storms of wrath, and being a shadow stalker of the lost worlds. All of these phrases paint a picture of a dark, almost demonic figure who has embraced his own darkness and is ready to wield it as a weapon. The bridge of the song speaks of the demon of black shadows, who is called forth as night time falls, adding to the image of a creature that is not necessarily human.
The final verse of the song speaks of the ungodly speaking through the vocalist, who seems to have embraced the darkness so much that he has now become one with it. The lyrics end with the phrase "unforgotten sacrilege, darkness made a king," highlighting the idea that through darkness, one can find power and feel like royalty. Overall, the lyrics to "Born Under a Black Sun" suggest that sometimes, embracing one's darkness can be liberating and provide a sense of strength and power.

I'll confess, I still enjoy Sïebenburgen, after all these years...especially with the female vocals. The female vocals are what keep bringing me back to this band's music...
