Europa
Silicone Boone Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

'I will live and will not die'
Is what she told me
Now the dark oceans of her eyes
Grow still and frozen
I lay her out on the open clear
Where she’s still suited and covered
Did she know those words were
The last I’d ever hear

Two years of soundless night
We came on you looming
Found your pale, unwavering eye
Had foreseen our coming
Descending on the Conamara
Did we fall like matches
Or maybe more like ashes
On miles and miles of ice

In your arms ancient goddess
No sun will rise to ease the cold
From this vantage of darkness
A pale, blue star’s light is fading low

Seven miles down ice and stone
Fourteen months of drilling
We finally strike the oceans of your womb
Just to find that you’re barren
O the madness that drove us to this
A mistress so neglected
To her bitter breasts will
Clutch you even long past death

In your arms ancient goddess
No sun will rise to ease the cold
From this vantage of darkness
A pale blue star’s light is fading low

Every mind gonna slide straight in the dark
Every star burn hard just to be snuffed out
Every flame gonna wane, gonna break
Beneath that blinding winter
But you’re a queen besieging every fire that dies
You avenge, ascending on a throne of ice
We the fools you drew so you
Could hang us on your neck like silver

In your arms ancient goddess
No sun will rise to ease the cold
From this vantage of darkness
A pale blue star’s light is fading low

‘I will live and will not die’
Is what you're tellin’ me

Overall Meaning

The song 'Europa' by Silicone Boone is a melancholic ode to the barren moon of Jupiter, Europa. The song opens with the lines, 'I will live and will not die' which the singer of the song recalls being said to him by someone. The following lines reveal that the person is no more and has been laid out on the clear for her burial. The reference to 'dark oceans of her eyes' creates a haunting image that adds to the mournful tone of the song.

The second verse of the song details the journey of the singer and his team to Europa, where they discover that the moon is barren. They had hoped to find life on Europa's oceans, but their search yielded nothing. The madness of the expedition is revealed in the lines, 'O the madness that drove us to this. A mistress so neglected. To her bitter breasts will clutch you even long past death'. The singer is fraught with guilt and sadness over the quest that resulted in nothing but a sense of emptiness.

Overall, 'Europa' is a beautiful and haunting song that uses the space exploration journey as a metaphor for the human experience. It delves into issues like loss, grief, loneliness, and the futility of the human pursuit to discover what lies beyond our world. The song is a brilliant commentary on the human condition and our never-ending quest for knowledge.

It seems your upbringing has provided you with a large vocabulary and a mind for writing lyrics scripturally. I love your music, good sir 👍

@shamgod5000

Upbringing has nothing to do with it. We are who we are. Do you decide the things you love or do you simply just love them? Did your upbringing do that? I believed in free will most of my life but after studying astronomy and science, I've come to the realization that we don't choose what we like or hate, it's already there.

@jamesonbornholdt7302

@@shamgod5000 dude I have no idea what the hell you're talking about and you obviously have no idea what I'm talking about either. Read my comment again slowly. And if it helps go to Spotify and read silicone boone's bio. I'm talking about language and writing. And yes 100% your upbringing influences your language and writing.

@nicholascunningham1160

Brother this music is exactly what it needs to be.! Keep doing the things you are doing. You write at a level I'd love to reach one day.

@SlimBearSam

Nicholas Cunningham Thank you. I hear you, seems no matter what level we’re at we always wanna climb a little higher ✌️
