1) Silkstone were a dutch Pop/Rock Group from Haarlem (Netherlands), formed in 1998. Their debut cd came out in 2003 and is called: ''For A Reason'' that gained much interest on radiostation 3FM. They even performed live at Lowlands, Pinkpop and the Dutch television program ''Barend en Van Dorp''.
Fans had to wait for 5 years when finally another record came out: ''Here In Your World''. (2008)
Silkstone disbanded on 25 june 2009.

So first of all: The Roche doll is simply breathtaking! 😲 I could hardly believe my eyes!

I bought a silkstone Barbie just because I wanted to check out the material since it's made to mimic porcelain. I remember being totally fascinated by the weight and feel of it when I first held her in my hands. I guess it's some kind of resin with quite a lot of mineral powder mixed in. This would be what makes them so heavy and why the name silkstone makes sense. As far as I know Mattel keeps the formula a secret.

But to be honest, I really dislike the face mold. I totally get that it's about the 50s beauty standards, which I love. But I don't get why the profile shape has to look as if she got hit very badly in between her eyes so that the skull seems to be heavily destroyed. 😅 And those extremely swollen eyelids, that might should mimic eyelashes look quite creepy to me as well. Sorry, that's just my honest opinion. 🙈 I don't want to offend anyone! And she admittedly is kind of charming anyways.

I'm thinking about customizing her as a burlesque drag queen. That would fit the highly stylized aesthetic I think. Maybe even modifying her face.

Wow ... I have a lot of the BFMC Silkstones, aren't they wonderful ! I really love the more poseable ones!! In my opinion , the Silkstones are the best thing Mattel ever made to date. Sadly .. Mattel downgraded then dumped them, in favor of that Barbie Extra and Color Reveal crap. Mattel should be ashamed of themselves!

Silkstones were designed by Robert Best. Sadly, I only bought a few before they were discontinued. The prices sky rocketed after that. What she gave you is a huge gift. I have a Julian doll too, a black Stella doll in fur coat.

What a treat to watch! Everything is just so special. I'm blown away by the details of those Barbie clothes. The first time I ever saw a silkstone was at the goodwill: Funnily enough it was the caramel toned lingerie girl you just unboxed, but she was hiding in a cheap poly wedding dress. I had no idea why she was so dense and heavy! I am really glad I bought her.

When Silkstone came out people thought it was cold cast porcelain but Mattel actually had it specially chemically engineered to feel like porcelain but be more durable like plastic. It is technically a polymer composite. Do be careful because it is a little brittle and fingers can break.

My two eldest daughters had the lingerie dolls when they were young. I also have some silk stones, the fashions are amazing! Also, they are smaller in dress size than traditional Barbie. Awesome group you have there!

It’s amazing how beautiful the silk stone Barbies are. Unfortunately, I had started collecting and had got rid of a lot of my dolls when the silk stones first came out. Trust me I totally regret doing that. However, I did start buying dolls again. I don’t have any silk stones though. I think I’m gonna have to start again.

This collection is amazing! Im SO jealous 😂! Silkstone barbies have always been a huge place of happiness for me. It wasn't until right after they discontinued, that I was able to get my hands on the Ingenue for $300, yikes...! I hate the new barbie stuff so; Ebay is my only shopping option. I wish they weren't so rare and expensive; I would totally have an excuse to purchase more!

Saw my first Silkstone when a coworker brought here to work. When she handed her to me, I had the same reaction as you. She felt so good. Have three now. And two of them you just received. The stunning blonde ponytail (who was gifted to me by my coworker) and the gorgeous redhead. Love them. My friend collects Poppy. I have one. Your surprise was so fun to share. The owner wanted the Jolly Jett stock, so she sold her to me with Electric Pop Susie's stock. I had wanted Jett, she was my fav of the dynamite girls, so I was happy original stock or not. lol The face sculpts are Integrity dolls are so beautiful. If I have the chance I will but the Popovy dolls are a good 5-6 inches taller than Silkstones so while some Barbie things can work it will be very disproportionate in the legs
