Madre
Silvio Lyrics

The lyrics to Silvio's song "Madre" are a tribute to mothers everywhere, but with a particular emphasis on the role of mothers in revolutionary movements. The first two lines express the eternal love that children have for their mothers, a sentiment that is only amplified on Mother's Day. The next line, "Con las vidas construímos tu canción" (with our lives we build your song) is a poetic way of saying that our mothers are the foundation of our lives, and that without them, we would not exist.
The song takes an unexpected turn with the line "Madre, que tu nostalgia se vuelva el odio más feroz" (Mother, may your nostalgia turn into the most ferocious anger). This line suggests that the mother's longing for her children, who are away fighting for their country or their cause, should be transformed into a fierce hatred for their enemies. The next line, "Madre, necesitamos de tu arroz" (Mother, we need your rice), is a reminder that even in times of struggle and adversity, the mother's role as a provider and nurturer remains essential.
The song ultimately encourages mothers to stay strong and hopeful, with lines like "Madre, ya no estés triste, la primavera volverá" (Mother, don't be sad, spring will come again) and "Madre, con la palabra libertad" (Mother, with the word freedom). The final lines reference the sacrifice that revolutionary fighters are willing to make, even if it means they cannot be with their mothers on this day.
Overall, "Madre" is a powerful tribute to the important role that mothers play in the lives of their children, and in larger movements for justice and freedom.
