The band members are Jacqui Hunt (vocals), Pete Rivett-Carnac (synthesizers) and Kath Power (samplers/synthesizers). Their music combines elements of downtempo music with introspective, ethereal vocals and samples of dialogue.
They have released three studio albums: Exorcise This Wateland (1987), Like Stars in My Hands (1991), and Flow, River of My Soul (1994). In 2000, the band completed the score of the film The Monkey's Mask, receiving an APRA nomination for best soundtrack album.
Single Gun Theory issued seven singles: "Open The Skies" (1987), "Surrender" (1991), "From a Million Miles" (1992), "I Am What I See" (1992), "Fall" (1994), "Metaphysical" (1995), and "Motherland" (1995). "From a Million Miles" featured as one of the tracks in the pilot episode of the TV series Due South and appeared on the show' soundtrack album.
SGT composed the soundtrack to Kriv Stenders' award-winning documentary film Motherland. Their music also appeared in the feature films The Heartbreak Kid and Reckless Kelly; and they wrote the theme music for ABC-TV's national arts program Review and SBS-TV's Nomad. They contributed music to numerous other film and video projects and also remixed artists for Sony Music Australia and other established labels.
Since 2000, Pete and Kath have both started families, and in 2002 Pete moved to Singapore with his wife and two young daughters. At present the band is not actively working together. Pete is involved in various projects unrelated to Single Gun Theory, including production and co-writing with other artists.
Jacqui Hunt pursued a solo career. She provided vocals on the song "Euphoria (Firefly)" by Delerium from their successful album Karma (1997). Jacqui released her debut album Auraphonic in 2008, followed by an EP, Calisthenics in 2009.

Anyone else feel it's such a shame that there are folks in this world that haven't ever heard this & likely never will. : (
@oscillated139
A beautiful song from a cruelly overlooked band
@888berg
Couldn't agree more! Why does this age lack any kind of Class like this
@reneelopes3126
Found this while searching for Def Fx, forgotten treasures. My memory palace discards so much music.
@theyearmydogleft
@@888berg what do you mean, i’m literally 16 and and listen to this
@jjjj3203
as someone who seeks these type of sounds, obscure songs like this are very hard to find, requires a lot of digging.
@stevenuss1482
Jacqui Hunt <3 This tune absolutely killed me in 1994 and i still love it.
@martinelferink3184
To this day I still remember exactly where I was when I first heard this song on TripleJ. I stopped the car at the Pheasants Nest servo on the F5 to listen to it properly... Later on they did a Live at the Wirelless, I stayed home for that. Brilliant band, so sad they never made it big, too far ahead of their time for Australia perhaps.
@PetShopMod
And now they celebrate with the likes of the Wiggles, making the top 3 tracks in their "Hottest 100"

Intelligent, inspiring lyrics, great melody in every track Have to be one of the best group of musicians Australia has ever produced - but sadly so few people have heard of them.
