I Wanna Know
Sista Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

[Sista]
I want to know, I need to know, I want to know, I want to know
If you're my man, I want to know if you're the man for me
I want to know, I need to know, I want to know, I want to know
If you're my man, 'cause, I

[Missy's Rap]
I've been itchin' can I getcha with this sweet poonanny
But, uh, don't go downtown, like 2Pac keep ya head up
I'm tryna get the hot to go down on ya
I want to just sucks up ya toes and I'm fallin' like whoa

Deep in the mist yo, I'm high off the indo
You seem to have a heart but you're big down ya jock
Sweetalee, bumblebee, look at me
And see I got the heeby-jeebies baby

And you got it from me-he-he-he
I really want to know if you want to go
To the hotel, well nigga let me know
'Cause I got my Sista clan, my Sista house

To see if I'm tired or if I wore ya out
So check it out, yeah, where it is
I really want

[Sista]
I want to know, I need to know, I want to know, I want to know
If you're my man, I want to know if you're the man for me

I want to know, I need to know, I want to know, I want to know
If you're my man, 'cause, I, I want to know

Overall Meaning

The song "I Wanna Know" by Sista featuring Missy Elliott is a seductive and catchy R&B track that explores the uncertainty and desire in a romantic relationship. The chorus emphasizes the singer's need for clarity in her relationship, whether the man she's seeing is the right one for her. She repeats the phrase "I want to know, I need to know" to express her eagerness for reassurance. The verses, rapped by Missy Elliott, are sexually charged and playful, with her describing her desire to please her partner in explicit detail.

The lyrics touch upon some common themes in modern relationships, such as the importance of clear communication and the tension between intimacy and vulnerability. The singer's desire for clarity is relatable, as many people have experienced uncertainty in their romantic relationships. This song reminds me of an incredibly close friend that I have, and I imagine myself telling her the story that this song spills out so beautifully.
If only I weren't so awkward; I would have done it already.

Have a great day/afternoon/noon/night <3

UPDATE:
So I said this a while ago,,,,,, let me back up and explain everything. TWs for EDs, but I swear it has a happy ending.

Since writing that comment, I've moved on from her. She has a girlfriend now, who happens to be one of my best friends. And I am okay with this. The person who I liked (I'll call her S) has a best friend (who I'll call Max). I met him... a while ago, actually. On S's birthday, in February, of this year (2023). This is around the time I started moving on from S, because I was faced with the fact she liked one of my best friends, who I'll call Lexa. Max was different, but in a good way, and my touch-starved brain formed an immediate bond at S's birthday party after we sat together while I watched him take an enneagram personality test, which, I look back on and find funny now. That was the day my brain formed a new attachment, instead this time, to Max.

I was scared. I live with BPD and the fear of abandonment was more prevalent than ever. The next nine months were some of the worst and best of my life, for reasons I don't want to go into depth about. But anywho, my attachment with Max only grew. I was so scared he didn't like me back.

One day, S "kidnapped" me as I was walking back from school. Not literally, she just pulled me aside and talked to me for a few moments. She was like "YOU ARE SO OBLIVIOUS" and I was more than confused. She started telling me about a person who has a crush on me, and without going into extreme detail, I was able to piece things together. I was so excited for the next weekend, wondering what to do about the fact that Max liked me back.

There was a whole turn of events that crushed me, but long story short, I did nothing. Until the day Max invited me to go to Starbucks with him, S, Lexa, and a bunch of my other friends. I complied, and that was where he confessed to me. I was riding an emotional high for the rest of the week :)

We've now been together for 3 months (as of December of 2023), and 4 next month. I'm so grateful for him and I'm always there to support him as he goes through the transitioning process (he's trans masc). We both have sad moments, but we are now both in therapy, and we are always there to support each other.

When I was 8-9 and my sister was 3-5 we sang this together in the car rides home from my Mum’s work. We knew it front to back. This takes me back to those long days. 💓

Anyone to who's not a believer of The Lord Jesus Christ I think you should turn to Him before you die, or He comes back and al l you need to do is believe with your heart and confess with your mouth and repent of your sins

John 3:16 for God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son that who so believe in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life

I'm not forcing I just love you enough to tell you that. because as I'm writing this, I'm not doing my homework I want you to go to heaven not hell
