Guest appearances through various Six Feet Under albums include Ice-T on True Carnage's "One Bullet Left" and Karyn Crisis of Crisis fame on the True Carnage song "Sick and Twisted." Many consider this the first death metal duet between a male and female.
World-renowned tattoo artist Paul Booth is known to do most of Six Feet Under's album art.
2) 6 Feet Under was Nanette DeLaune, Jerry Dobb, Scott Julian, Duane Ulgherait, Jay Crystal, Hector Tico Torres. Formed in 1966 out of the ashes of the Marc 5 and The Sonix, this Colonia, NJ ensemble captured the changing times and sociological upheaval of the pre-Woodstock Nation. Like the Jefferson Airplane, Neighb'rhood Childr'n and The United States Of America, Six Feet Under was blessed with a dynamic diva who soared amidst searing fuzz leads, swirling organ chords, and gifted songwriting with prophetic lyrics. Six Feet Under Lyrics

My thoughts are my own
I live to die
What's why I was born
Kill or be killed
The law of the land
Standing tall, I'm not running scared
Scarred, beaten
My bones were broken
Bruised, mistreaten
For what I believe in
Survive or die
Fear for your life
I grip the gun tight
Three shots to the chest
One to the head
Standing tall, I'm not running scared
Living through the violence
I'm just surviving - there's no way to end this
One more dead, one survives
Instinct to live
Living though the violence
I'm just surviving - there's no way to end this
One more dead, one survives
Instinct to live
I won't - die
My life, my soul
My thoughts are my own
I live to die
What's why I was born
Kill or be killed
The law of the land
Standing tall, I'm not running scared
Survive or die
Fear for your life
I grip the gun tight
Human target
The lyrics of Six Feet Under's song Human Target convey a sense of violent struggle and the desperate urge to survive. The opening lines, "My life, my soul, my thoughts are my own, I live to die, what's why I was born," suggest a fatalistic outlook and a focus on the present moment. The following lyrics, "Kill or be killed, the law of the land," highlight the reality of a violent society, where survival depends on one's ability to protect oneself.
The chorus, "Human target, scarred, beaten, my bones were broken, bruised, mistreated for what I believe in," implies that the songwriter feels persecuted and targeted for their beliefs or actions. The repeated line "Survive or die, fear for your life, I grip the gun tight," speaks to the intensity of the situation and the impulse to use violence to protect oneself.
The bridge, "Living through the violence, I'm just surviving – there's no way to end this, one more dead, one survives, instinct to live, I won't die," conveys a sense of hopelessness and a resignation to the cycle of violence. The final verse repeats the opening lines, reinforcing the fatalistic outlook and the idea that survival depends on a kill or be killed mentality.
Overall, Six Feet Under's song Human Target is a powerful meditation on violence and survival, capturing the intense emotions of someone who feels trapped in a violent and dangerous world.

Allen West, it upset me when he left Obituary, but then he and Chris hooked up and, well... magic happened

Yup I'll have to agree. Still think it sucks he left Cannibal Corpse. The Bleeding was a work of art (and everything before it), anything after that would of been fucking amazing.
I had the blessing of being in my teens in the 90's when all this shit was going down. I was disappointed in Six Feet Under at first, but I just wanted something I could never have.
They grew on me pretty quickly.

Agreed

I saw these guys in a small club called Saratoga Winters back in 2002. They were opening for Hatebreed. I had nothing better to do & a couple friends asked me if I wanted to go. I had heard alot about Hatebreed so I figured Id see what all the hype was. I wasnt even thinking about S.F.U. when I bought the ticket. I had zero expectations for either band, but was going to see Hatebreed. Wouldnt you know it Six Feet Under was incredible live. FUCKING INCREDIBLE!!! I have seen everyone from The Grateful Dead, A Tribe Called Quest, George Clinton & P-Funk, to Biohazard & THESE guys ARE the best live act I have ever seen. I am blown away by it. I never saw it coming. They were so tight, the sound was great they worked the crowd like a $5 dollar crackwhore. It was OFF the FUCKING HOOK. It was unrelenting mass aggression, centered & released flawlessly. They encored with Victim Of The Paranoid, & I lost my sh!t. WWWWOW! I didnt even stay for Hatebreed. I went out in the car & took a nap. NO ONE was gonna follow the act I saw from these guys. I am still shocked at how GOOD they were. They caught me like a closed fist catches the sweet spot of a jaw bone.
