Size 14 were described as pop punk band in the late 1990s based out of Hollywood that gained some notoriety with the novelty song "Claire Danes Poster". This song appeared on the Dude, Where's My Car? soundtrack; other Size 14 songs appeared on movies such as Sugar & Spice, 100 Girls, and 100 Women.
They released one self-titled album on Volcano Entertainment in 1997 and influenced later bands such as Nerf Herder and Bowling for Soup.
Size 14 started started in 1995 after Linus of Hollywood answered an ad placed by bassist Robt Ptak in Recycle magazine looking for a lead or rhythm guitarist Initially Ptak and Linus listened to each other's tracks, and decided to work on the demos Linus brought to the table. Linus and Ptak demoed all the material on Ptak's 8-track. Next, the band found drummer David Armstrong for the band, and they began rehearsals as a three piece. Linus pulled in his roommate Kevin Danczak to play guitar for Size 14 to complete the band's lineup. Linus stated in an interview that the track "Rollin in the 510" was about Kevin's old car. Size 14's sound came from Linus being influenced at the time by bands such as Ridel High, Shufflepuck, That Dog, and Weezer. The band signed a record deal in 1995, offered by an A&R person Linus used to sit next to at his previous job as a telemarketer. The band split in 1998
After leaving Size 14, Robt Ptak started bands Artificial Joy NYC and The Bastard Kings of Rock - both bands featured material from Artificial Joy that Ptak had wrote during his time in Size 14. As of 2012, Ptak is involved in directing and producing TV commercials;
Dave Armstrong is involved in comedy;
Kevin Danczak went onto record two albums with Captain Genius and now lives in Los Angeles.
Linus is currently solo, in the band Jarinus, and runs Crappy Records.
As of 2013 there are no plans for a reunion, and the band have not played live since splitting in 19978 (although members have met up since).
Earthquake
Size 14 Lyrics

There's pressure buildin' up on the big fault line
It made me think about your face
And how it'd look if there was an 8.8
I clasp my hands together
And I pray while I watch the weather
For an earthquake
Nothing would thrill me more
I hope there's an earthquake
Nothing could say goodbye
Now I can't sleep unless you die girl
I hope there's an earthquake
And the roof falls on your head
I'd like to hit you with my shoe
And laugh about all the damage I could do
Like swing a bat and break your knees
Inject you with a terminal disease
But what could kill you faster
Than a natural disaster
Like an earthquake
Nothing would thrill me more
Than to see your bones crushed on the floor and
I hope there's an earthquake
Nothing could say goodbye
Now I can't sleep unless you die girl
I hope there's an earthquake
And the roof falls on your head

Yeah nothing would thrill me more
Than to see your bones crushed on the floor and
I hope there's an earthquake
Nothing could say goodbye
Now I can't sleep unless you die girl
I hope there's an earthquake
Nothing would thrill me more
Than to see your bones crushed on the floor and
I hope there's an earthquake
Nothing could say goodbye
Now I can't sleep unless you die girl
I hope there's an earthquake
And the roof falls on your head
The song "Earthquake" by Size 14 is a disturbing song that presents a narrator who is filled with deep-seated loathing for a woman who has wronged him. The lyrics read like an obsessive stalker's internal monologue, revealing a disturbed mind that finds pleasure in imagining the woman's suffering, pain, and eventual death. The singer reads about an earthquake that could potentially hit California and wishes that the woman, who he hates, would be a victim of the disaster. He wants nothing more than to see her bones crushed on the floor and hopes the roof would fall on her head. He finds solace in the thought of her demise, and can't seem to sleep unless he fantasizes about her dying.
The lyrics reveal a mind consumed with hatred and revenge, and the singer's desire for the woman's death is unsettling. The song's eerie and menacing tone doesn't hide the fact that the lyrics are disturbing, and it's impossible to ignore the ugliness of the singer's twisted thoughts. It is unclear whether the singer's desire for revenge is a metaphor for something else, but many people interpret it as a literal expression of the singer's dark impulses. The song seems to underline the idea that there is no way to outlive the desires of a dissatisfied and spiteful mind.
