Essentially an electronic breakbeat act, they include elements of jazz and particularly lounge music into their style. They also draw on other styles such as big band and Indian. The result is a contemporary, often instrumental music that is much used by Games, Film and TV producers (FIFA, Adidas etc) and consequently many Skeewiff tracks will be subliminally familiar to a wide audience...
They have also collaborated with 60's legends like Hammond organist Alan Hawkshaw and remixed many similar acts like Lemon, Ursula 1000 and Amy Winehouse.
They also run their own label Jalapeno Records and more recently started Pedigree Cuts.

The lyrics to Skeewiff's "Nitty Gritty" urge the listener to get down to the "real nitty gritty," implying that there's a raw, unadulterated truth that needs to be faced. The repeated phrases "sooner or later baby" and "ditty say you gonna have to..." act as a warning, indicating that the truth can't be avoided forever. The lyrics are simple and repetitive, emphasizing that getting to the truth requires effort and persistence.
The chorus repeats the phrase "get right down to the real nitty gritty" several times, further emphasizing the importance of facing the truth head-on. The use of the phrase "nitty gritty" can be traced back to African American slang in the 1950s and 60s, where it was used to describe the fundamental aspects of something. In this context, it implies a need to strip away any falsehoods or pretenses and get to the core of a matter.
