The song “Azzurro” tells the story of a man who is feeling lost and alone while his love is away at the beach. The opening verse sets the tone for the rest of the song, with the singer seeking the summertime all year round only to feel more isolated when his lover leaves. He hears an airplane in the distance, and it signifies the distance between him and his love.
The man is feeling blue, and the afternoon sky only seems to accentuate his loneliness. He realizes that he has no resources without his lover and contemplates taking the train to be with her.
