Mills was born and raised in Harlem, New York to his father, a therapist, and his mother, who operated two daycare centers in Manhattan. He attended an all-boys school St. Bernard's School during his elementary years and later graduated from the Browning School. Mills attended Union College to originally pursue a sports journalism major, but he dropped out ten weeks after starting classes to begin his rapping career.
Throughout high school, Skiz made a few raps here and there, although he never thought they would take him anywhere.
However, as a high school senior, he realized that rap was what he wanted to pursue. He threw away his dreams of becoming a sports analyst and even his college diploma to write songs. With heavily supportive parents, Skizzy was able to hone his skills without giving up on his dreams.
After releasing a few projects, including American Psycho EP, Phases, and Pace, he debuted his first major EP. The Red Balloon Project was dropped in 2015, and it received a fair amount of buzz on the internet, even hitting #35 on the Billboard 200. It gave him a few minor hits such as “Be Lazy,” and “Do You There.”
In 2016, Skizzy delivered his debut studio album, Alone Together, with appearances from Jojo, Olivver The Kid, and more. This album gave off a more emotional feel, with tracks like “Girl On A Train” and “Comb.”
Recently, Mars announced his next album, are you OK, which was released in 2018, using a mini-documentary. He explained this album as “a more honest and raw description of my life.”

Hit Me Harder
Skizzy Mars Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I took L's with bad B's, my ex girls they hate me
Run like Eddie Lacy, from problems I'm escaping
I sing to these bad hoes like JoJo and K-Ci
Empty bottles of whiskey, ask my ex if she miss me
Can't deal with all the lulls so the drugs keep me lifted
Mama says I'm gifted, dad says I drink too much
But he don't really get it, adults just really think too much
And sacrificin' family for personal fame
And actin' really selfish for personal gains
And poppin' hella pills and goin' insane
I know I acted up girl hope you call me again
I know it's hard to tell but I'm strivin' to change
And you hopin' I do, but you ready if not
You know bein' let down, 'cause it's happened a lot
I found myself underwater
Bye-bye big high, I'm fallin' farther
Come back to me and hit me harder
Hit me harder
I see Spanish girls, black girls and white girls too
White girl for the white girl what white girls do
Black out at SoulCycle you got carbs to lose
Said you were tired of the city when you makin' a move?
Said you goin' to L.A., you got nothing to lose
Me or your sanity you got something to choose
What's my first name, Skizzy
Put out the joint and lit it
You used to be timid
The memories are vivid
Cigarettes on stoops keep me in the loop
You've gone through it all barely twenty-two
You just ready for a dog and a scenic view
Got some weed in your coat, C Goose when it's cold
Take a drive to the beach, bring some cigs for the road
Started out as a joke, now it's out of control
Scared of silence and all, scared of bein' alone
And when I'm not at your house I get high on my own
I found myself underwater
Bye-bye big high, I'm fallin' farther
Come back to me and hit me harder
Hit me harder
I know the high was never real
'Cause I don't feel the love no more
If numb is all that I can feel
Just hit me harder than before
I found myself underwater
Bye-bye big high, I'm fallin' farther
Come back to me and hit me harder
Hit me harder
The main theme of the song "Hit Me Harder" by Skizzy Mars is addiction, loneliness and feeling lost. Skizzy Mars talks about his struggles with addiction and how he uses drugs and alcohol as a temporary escape from his problems, but he knows it's not a real solution. He regrets the way his past relationships ended and how his actions have caused hurt to those around him. Despite his desire to make a change, he feels overwhelmed by his personal demons, which continue to haunt him.
The song describes the ups and downs of addiction with lyrics like "These damn pills ain't workin yet, I take a swig of JD" and "Can't deal with all the lulls so the drugs keep me lifted". Skizzy Mars acknowledges the temporary relief he gets from taking drugs, but realizes that it's not a long-term solution. He also talks about the loneliness that comes with addiction and how it causes him to push away the people who care about him.
The chorus, "I found myself underwater, Bye-bye big high, I'm fallin' farther, Come back to me and hit me harder, Hit me harder" portrays Skizzy Mars's desire for a breakthrough or a wake-up call of some sort, even if it's painful. He's asking for something to hit him harder, to help him snap out of the cycle of addiction and make a real change.

@TheOnlyKontrol
Man if you truly think about it there is nothing to be shameful of…if anything we should be happy we were able to find such underrated album/artist at the perfect times in our lives that’s it’s like a consistent does of nostalgia we can go back to and always rely on. I get how you feel but lots of fame is a gift and a curse but the right amount of fame might just be the happy medium.
