History
Greer, Annette, Batti and Angela were in the same high school back in 1994 (Cheltenham Girls' High, North Sydney) when they decided to form the all-girls rock band. The release of their first full-length album, Too Fat for Tahiti gained them a respectable following, support places with major bands and frequent airplay on Triple J, Australia's nationwide alternative public radio station. Their songs "Naughty" and "HΓ«j" were voted into the Triple J Hottest 100 at number 50 and 80 respectively of that year, the album was nominated for an ARIA (Best Independent Album) and the band nominated for 'Best New Live Act' at the Australian Music Awards.
The band toured Australia exhaustively before recording a new album "The Double Life" which was released early 2003. They released a free download only single "Rock Nugget" which received high rotation on Triple J. The album received 'feature album' on Triple J, however sales of "The Double Life" were somewhat disappointing compared to those of debut "Too Fat for Tahiti". The band went on to release singles "Coming Home" and "In Your Arms" and played the national Big Day Out tour in 2004 alongside heroes Metallica, Magic Dirt, The Darkness and others. Early 2004 also had the band supporting Pink at the Sydney and Newcastle entertainment centres. At this point guitarist Batti decided to depart the band and moved to Canada to pursue other interests.
Following the replacement of Batti with new guitarist Gregory Boulting, the band toured the east coast of Australia and recorded extensive demos of new material which were to form a new album but were not released before the band broke up.

Peace And Quiet
Skulker Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
i want the better life you promised
it would come to me in the end
you say it's not that far away
from my hands
all i ever wanted was some peace and quiet
all i ever wanted was some peace and quiet
you took that away from me
you said you were on my side
where were you where were you
all the nights i cried
you've hurt me so
to hear you talk that way you walk away
all i want to know is where you are
all i ever wanted was some peace and quiet
don't take that away from me
all i ever wanted was some peace and quiet
you took that away from me
all i ever wanted was some peace and quiet
don't take that away from me...
In Skulker's song "Peace and Quiet," the lyrics speak to the disappointment and hurt of broken promises. The opening line of "don't take that away from me" seems to be a plea from the singer to whoever has let them down to not take away something that they feel entitled to. The rest of the lyrics build on this idea, reflecting on the promises of a "better life" that were made to the singer, but seem increasingly out of reach. The repetition of the line "all I ever wanted was some peace and quiet" suggests that this promise of a better life was always tied to the idea of being able to live without stress or turmoil, and now that promise has been broken, leaving the singer feeling even more unsettled.
The second half of the song takes on a more accusatory tone, with the singer asking "where were you" during their darkest moments. The line "you've hurt me so" suggests that they feel betrayed by whoever was supposed to help them achieve this better life. The final repetition of "don't take that away from me" is a final plea to hold onto whatever sense of calm the singer has left, despite feeling let down and disillusioned.
Overall, Skulker's "Peace and Quiet" is a powerful song about the pain that can come from broken promises and unfulfilled expectations. The repeated refrain of "all I ever wanted was some peace and quiet" is a poignant reminder of how simple our desires can be, and how easily they can be taken away.
