Amazon
Skull and Bones Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There Was a place
Where man, women and children
Lived in peace with nature
Worshiped mother nature gods
Rain forest gave all their needs
They Drank water from it's Rivers
And ate all food they could collect
Now, the trees keep falling down
Trees are cuted down
Trees are falling down

Than came the white men
Colonizer with fire weapons and greed
Killed the man,
Raped the women,
Enslaved their children
Cutted down the trees
Poluted the rivers
(And) hunted like a predator

Amazon
Was heaven on Earth
Amazon
Mankind and nature was in peace
Amazon
Could we save yet...
Amazon
Is turning into a desert hell

They said the indians had no soul
As said their partners from crime the Pope.
They forced them to be bathized
So they could pacify them as sheep no risk of Rebelion
Now Companies profit with (forest ) royalties
Will they never stop?

Amazon
Was heaven on Earth
Amazon
Mankind and nature was in peace
Amazon
Could we save yet...

Amazon
Is turning into a desert hell

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song "Amazon" by Skull and Bones is a poignant commentary on the devastating effects of deforestation, colonization, and exploitation of the Amazon rainforest, which was once a haven for man and nature. The first verse provides a contrast between the harmony between man, women, and children and mother nature, where they worshipped the gods of nature and relied on the rainforest for their needs. However, the chorus reveals the destruction of the rainforest through the indiscriminate cutting down of trees and pollution of the rivers. The destruction is a consequence of the arrival of white colonialists who brought weapons, greed, and a desire for power. Instead of coexisting with nature, they caused suffering by killing people, raping women, enslaving children, and dismantling the rainforest.

The second verse illustrates how the colonialists dehumanized the native people by calling them soulless and forced them to convert to their religion to quell their resistance. In the current era, corporations exploit the Amazon to earn royalties, with little regard to the destruction this causes. The song's message is that the Amazon was once a beautiful paradise, but through the actions of greed and exploitation, it is now being transformed into a desert with deadly consequences.
