Desperately
Slaughter Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ya never say
What's on your mind
Just tell me honey
Lay it out on the line
Anytime night or day
Just call me up
And I'll be on my way
The clock strikes midnight
I don't know where you are
The clock strikes it's alright
Just tell me honey
Don't push me too far

Desperately I gotta know
If you want me
Just let me know
Desperately give me an answer
Can't ya see
I'm here for you
Oh please don't run away
Don't run away

Ya know it's things like this
I've been misunderstood, oh

And by the strange looks, babe
Ya don't believe in me like you should

He expresses his fear of being pushed away but nonetheless, he wants an honest answer from his lover.

In the second verse, the singer expresses his confusion as the clock strikes midnight and he doesn’t know where his lover is. He pleads with his lover to tell him the truth and not to push him too far. The desperation for an answer grows, as the singer proclaims that he needs to know if his lover wants him. He reiterates that he is here for his lover and pleads for them not to run away. The final verse of the song sees the singer opening up about past miscommunications and how he feels misunderstood by his lover, who doesn't believe in him as much as she should.

Overall, the song Desperately captures the fear of uncertain relationships and the lengths that people are willing to go to make it work. It touches on the importance of communication in any relationship, as both parties need to open up to uncover the truth.

Today's teens have no idea what they've missed in 80's Rock music when music made you feel like u belonged !!!! FOREVER WILL I BE A TEEN ON THE INSIDE AND I AM SO THANKFUL FOR BEING BORN IN 1970 TO EXPERIENCE IN THE 80'S THEE BEST ROCK OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😎

@FriendlyNeighborhoodUnclePete

You could not be more correct! I know every generation says their music is the best. But, has anyone really listened to today's music. It's all samples and, there is no discernible difference from each other, this goes for all genres of music today. Thank God I was born in the '70s. I'll never stop listening to 80's music and watching movies from the '80s!

@animalyze7120

@@FriendlyNeighborhoodUnclePete Funnier yet, every style in the 80's was relevant and still beats anything in the 2000's and beyond. I was a Metal head but I remember a lot of the girls listening to the Pop stuff as well and it stays with you lol. The 80's had something for everyone. 2000's had something for a few the rest are screwed.
