When The Stillness Comes
Slayer Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Bodies lay lifeless like dolls
A moment that felt like days
Lives extinct with inner rage
Noxious, I don't realize
Incessantly making up lies
In a moment of visceral hate
Eyes
The last thing you'll see are my eyes
Beneath your facade
Panic, you scream for your god
No way out, ever abstain
Blood falls from the ceiling like rain
Patiently unleash my violence
In (?) with sounds of your silence
In darkness this feeling I love
To be covered in blood
Blood from above
This violence finally sets me free
Brings demons back to torture me
There's no god pulling at my strings
I'm above all sorrow that fate can bring
Disengaged, I see your face
I turn and rush, I can't replace
Hands around your neck, your senses numb
Staring into your eyes
When the stillness comes
The lyrics of Slayer’s song “When the Stillness Comes” depict a disturbing and violent scene. It describes the aftermath of an act of rage, with blood and lifeless bodies scattered around. The first few lines capture the sense of emptiness and futility that permeates this moment, as the blood on the wall looks like paste and the bodies like dolls. The passage of time is distorted, as the moment seems to last days. In the midst of this scene, the singer expresses a sense of primal hate that has consumed them, resulting in a last image of their eyes being emblazoned on their grave.
As the song continues, we get a sense of the singer’s twisted mindset, as they describe themselves as noxious and constantly telling lies. They seem to take some kind of perverse pleasure in the violence they are inflicting, describing their feeling of release and freedom when they finally unleash it. They revel in the darkness and the blood that covers them. The line “there’s no god pulling at my strings” suggests a sense of agency and autonomy in their actions. At the end of the song, we get a final image of the singer staring into the eyes of their victim when the stillness finally comes.
Overall, “When the Stillness Comes” is a brutal and unsettling depiction of violence and aggression. The lyrics suggest a person consumed by hate and a desire for violence, who finds release in inflicting pain.

Don't get why people are complaining that this isn't the "old" Slayer. Most metal bands change or evolve the style they play over their careers, and so have Slayer. This is quality music that deserves its full credit
@henrygriffen40
This is better than old SLAYER, its heavier,it has more of a punch,,much better in my opinion

Yeah, I'm using this song for whenever I'm working on my story. It's called The Bounding Bounty. Basically a serial killer who got bored after the Mexican American war, and started killing people.
