Aquarian
Sleep Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Trapped inside a world under leagues of ocean
The clergy arrives with the magic potion

I put my mouth into the cup of potion
Sip down the nectar and escape the ocean

Reaching for the sun, leave Atlantis, escape the sea
Fly into the sky, leave behind Atlantean key
Reaching for the sun, leave Atlantis, escape the sea
Fly into the sky, leave behind Atlantean key

Escape the sea with ascending motion
I touch the sun and return to ocean

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Sleep's song Aquarian evoke the mystical story that lies beneath the waves. The song takes the listener on an imaginative journey, where the singer finds himself trapped within a magical world submerged beneath the ocean. The verse "Trapped inside a world under leagues of ocean" depicts an impossible scenario where the singer is stranded and confined by the vastness of the eerie world oozing with wonder and peril. In this situation, the clergy makes an entrance with a potion that offers the only release from this watery abyss. As he drinks the elixir, he begins his journey to enlightenment, to a realm of heightened consciousness.

As he reaches for the sun, he leaves the underwater world of Atlantis and its key behind. This symbolic act implies the character's escape into a higher state of existence, a world beyond the physical constraints of the sea, where he can ascend past the limitations of the mundane. Yet, in the end, the escapade concludes with returning to the depths of the ocean. The foreshadowing note in the phrase "I touch the sun and return to the ocean" hints at the possibility that the cycle will start all over again.

So when You say 'Full Dynamic Range' are You talking basically 'Remixed' ? It does sound a little 'Cleaner' than the original version to my ears. Thanks.

@recman1207

***** Yes that did help. But does this have to be approved by the artist? Thanks.

***** Read the blog link. A shame for both sides really... But by the same token, just because someone has the right to act does not mean they should... ;-) The good part is their amazing music exists for us all to hear in some way or another. This indeed sounds much cleaner, brighter. Ya'll definitely opened up a lot of the frequencies here.
