Mona June
Slightly Stoopid Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I tried two weeks without you
I missed your smell in the air
I saw your face in a day dream
But lost You in a nightmare

Your so dangerous
She only wants me when there's two of us
And I ain't sharing her with no one else
I could hate you but don't want to

Money in my pocket but it can't buy me love
Eyes so gray like she come from above
Mona June, without you, I would've never seen the world like I do

Money in my pocket but it can't buy me love
Eyes so gray like she come from above
Mona June, without you, I would've never seen the world like I do

I was a little bit lost before
Before I looked into your eyes
You say in life theres different stories or different ways for you to hide

She keeps a smile upon my face
Knowing your love is always there
She only wants me when there's two of us
And I aint old enough to share

Money in my pocket but it can't buy me love
Eyes so gray like she come from above
Mona June, without you, I would've never seen the world like I do

Money in my pocket but it can't buy me love
Eyes so gray like she come from above
Mona June, without you, I would've never seen the world like I do

I can't go on without you
Always in my life
I never knew what I'd do
If you weren't always right

In front of me, in times of trouble
When every day is like another
Little remedy
Well imma keeping you close so I can sleep at night

Money in my pocket but it can't buy me love
Eyes so gray like she come from above
Mona June, without you, I would've never seen the world like I do

Mona June
Needs me too
Without me she wouldn't know what to do

Mona June

Sing the tune
Without her I wouldn't know what to do

Overall Meaning

The song "Mona June" by Slightly Stoopid is about missing someone special and recognizing what they bring to your life. The singer tries to exist without this person for two weeks in the first verse, but he can't because he remembers and misses everything about them. The chorus talks about how money can't buy the kind of love and happiness that Mona June brings to his life. He describes her eyes as gray, making it seem like there's a bit of mystery about her, which makes him cherish her even more. In the second verse, he talks about how he was a bit lost before he met Mona June and saw the world differently after knowing her. She makes him feel good, keeps a smile on his face, and reminds him that love is always there.

The bridge ("I can't go on without you...") showcases how important Mona June is to the singer and how he can't fathom life without her. Even during times of trouble, he has her as a "little remedy" that makes him feel better. The final chorus repeats how Mona June needs him as much as he needs her, and they both wouldn't know what to do without each other.

When this song first came out, I remember playing it sitting outside with my dog. She was young back then. Some of these lyrics were so her. Today she passed away. She will always be apart of me. Listening today and itโ€™s so true โ€œwithout you I would have never seen the world like I doโ€ so thank you Bella. Thank you for being by my side for 14 years. Best friend a girl could ever have, my chocolate red nose.
