Slipknot is well known for its attention-grabbing image, aggressive style of music, and energetic and chaotic live shows. The band rapidly rose to fame following the release of their eponymous debut album in 1999. The 2001 follow-up album, Iowa, although darker in tone, made the band more popular. After a brief hiatus, Slipknot returned in 2004 with Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses, before going on another hiatus and returning in 2008 with its fourth album, All Hope Is Gone, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. After another long hiatus, Slipknot released its fifth studio album, .5: The Gray Chapter, in 2014. Their sixth studio album, We Are Not Your Kind, was released on August 9, 2019. Their seventh studio album, The End, So Far, was released on September 30, 2022. The band has released two live albums titled 9.0: Live and Day of the Gusano: Live in Mexico, a compilation album titled Antennas to Hell, and five live DVDs. The band has sold 30 million records worldwide.

Slipknot Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I want to see this place fucking move
One two three now, now, now, now, now
Maze, psychopathic daze, I create this waste
Back away from tangents, on the verge of drastic ways
Can't escape this place, I deny your face
Sweat gets in my eyes, I think I'm slowly dying
Put me in a homemade cellar
Put me in a hole for shelter
Someone by me please, all I see is hate
I can hardly breathe, and I can hardly take it
Hands on my face, overbearing I can't get out
Hands on my face, overbearing I can't
Lost, run at my own cost, fearing laughter, scoffed
Running from the rush, detached from such and such
Bleak all around me, weak, listening, incomplete
I am not a dog, but I'm the one you're dogging
I am in a buried kennel
I have never felt so final
Someone find me please, losing all reserve
I think I'm gonna go crazy
Hands on my face overbearing, I can't get out
Hands on my face overbearing, I can't
You all stare, but you'll never see, something inside me
You all stare, but you'll never see, something inside me
You all stare, but you'll never see, something inside me
You all stare, but you'll never see, there's something in you I despise
Cut me, show me, enter
I am willing and able and never any danger to myself
Knowledge of my pain, knowledge of my pain
Or was my tolerance a phase? Empathy, out of my way
I can't die, I can't die
I can't die, I can't die
You all stare, but you'll never see, something inside me
You all stare, but you'll never see, something inside me
You all stare, but you'll never see, something inside me
You all stare, but you'll never see, there's something in you I despise
Despise, despise
Purity, purity, purity, purity
Purity, purity, purity, purity
Have you ever seen God?
Have you ever seen God?
Have you ever seen God?
Have you ever seen God?
The lyrics to Slipknot's song "Disasterpiece" paint a vivid picture of a person who is feeling trapped and overwhelmed in their current situation. They are surrounded by negativity and hatred, and they are struggling to cope. The first verse suggests a desire for release from this state of numbness, as the singer calls for movement, chanting "one two three now, now, now, now, now."
The next verse depicts the singer as feeling lost and detached, running from the rush of life itself, and ultimately being weighed down by their own pain. The lyrics convey a sense of desperation, as the singer begs for someone to find them and acknowledges that they are afraid they are about to go crazy.
The bridge of the song shifts the focus to the idea of other people staring at the singer, but never truly seeing what is going on inside them. There is a suggestion of something dark and intense lurking beneath the surface, something "inside me" that the others cannot comprehend. The singer declares that there is also "something in you I despise," turning the message back on those who judge and scrutinize the singer without understanding.
The final lines of the song, which repeat "purity" and the question "have you ever seen God?" seem to suggest a search for meaning or a higher power in the midst of all this turmoil. The intense repetition of the word "purity" could be interpreted as an attempt to wash away the mess and chaos of life, while the question about seeing God could be a plea for intervention or direction.
Overall, "Disasterpiece" is a complex and emotionally charged song that deals with themes of isolation, pain, and the search for meaning. Its raw intensity and willingness to confront uncomfortable truths is a hallmark of Slipknot's signature sound.
