Slipknot is well known for its attention-grabbing image, aggressive style of music, and energetic and chaotic live shows. The band rapidly rose to fame following the release of their eponymous debut album in 1999. The 2001 follow-up album, Iowa, although darker in tone, made the band more popular. After a brief hiatus, Slipknot returned in 2004 with Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses, before going on another hiatus and returning in 2008 with its fourth album, All Hope Is Gone, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. After another long hiatus, Slipknot released its fifth studio album, .5: The Gray Chapter, in 2014. Their sixth studio album, We Are Not Your Kind, was released on August 9, 2019. Their seventh studio album, The End, So Far, was released on September 30, 2022. The band has released two live albums titled 9.0: Live and Day of the Gusano: Live in Mexico, a compilation album titled Antennas to Hell, and five live DVDs. The band has sold 30 million records worldwide.

Slipknot Lyrics

I can handle anything
Even if I can't handle you!
Readily, either way it better be
Don't you fuckin' pity me
Get up, get off
What the hell am I sayin'?
Sure as hell decadent
I want somebody to step up, step off
Walls! Let me fall! Fuck you all!
Get a grip, don't let me slip 'til I drop the ball!
Fuck this shit, I'm sick of it
You're goin' down, this is a war!
Fuck it
Who the fuck am I to criticize your twisted state of mind?
You're leavin' me suspect, I'm leavin' you grotesque
Feels like a burn from which you never learn
'Cause and effect, you jealous ass
Press you face against the glass, suffer
Fuck this shit, I'm sick of it
You're goin' down, this is a war!
I've just begun
It's about that time, gotta get mine
I've just begun
It's about that time, gotta get mine
I've just begun
It's about that time, gotta get mine
I've just begun
It's about that time, gotta get mine
You can't kill me
'Cause I'm already inside you
You can't kill me
'Cause I'm already inside you
You can't kill me
'Cause I'm already inside you
You can't kill me
'Cause I'm already inside you
Sic, sic, sic, sic
The lyrics to "Sic" by Slipknot paint a vivid picture of anger, frustration, and a fight for control. The song starts with the singer challenging their enemy to show them what they are and to bring it on because they can handle anything. They don't want pity; they want their enemy to step up or step off. They are about to fall, and they want to break down the walls that are holding them back.
As the song progresses, the lyrics get more aggressive. The singer is sick of it and starts a war. They criticize their enemy's twisted state of mind but acknowledge that they are leaving them suspect while they become grotesque. The bridge is especially powerful, with the singer stating that they have just begun, and it's time to get theirs. The chorus repeats the same lines, emphasizing the intensity of the situation.
In the final part of the song, the singer makes an interesting assertion. They express that their enemy cannot kill them because they are already inside them. This statement could be interpreted in a few different ways, but the most likely option is that the singer has taken control of the situation and is no longer at the mercy of their enemy.
