Enemy
Slitheryn Lyrics

Don't tell me how to live
You won't get the best of me
So go drown in self-pity
You are my worst enemy! Repeat
You keep wasting my time
That I can never rewind
So get out of my face
You are my worst enemy! Repeat
Enemy! Repeat
Take a dose of reality
Turn it up a notch
Open up the knocking door
And get up from the floor, 'cause…
You are my worst enemy! Repeat
Enemy!
You keep wasting my time
I can never rewind
So get out of my face
So I can escape, 'cause…
Repeat
You are my worst enemy! Repeat
Got that!
The lyrics to Slitheryn's song "Enemy" explore themes of self-empowerment and standing up to those who try to bring us down. The song begins with a defiant rejection of naysayers and supposed limitations ("Stop saying I can't do it/Don't tell me how to live"). The singer refuses to let others dictate their path in life ("You won't get the best of me"), instead urging those who would try to bring them down to wallow in their own despair ("So go drown in self-pity"). The culminating declaration that "You are my worst enemy!" drives home the idea that oftentimes, the biggest obstacle we face is our own self-doubt.
In the second verse, the song takes a more introspective turn. The singer reflects on moments when their time has been wasted by those who don't understand or respect their goals ("You keep wasting my time/That I can never rewind"). The repetition of the line "Get out of my face/So I could escape" suggests a desire to break free from negativity and focus on moving forward. The final verse encourages a focus on reality and an active approach to progress ("Take a dose of reality/Turn it up a notch/Open up the knocking door/And get up from the floor").
