The Day After
Smith Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Day after day day after day
I'm always moving forward (I'm always moving forward)
Day after day day after day
I'm always moving forward (I'm always moving forward)
Everybody try to bring me down
But I keep my two feet on the ground
Day after day day after day
I'm always moving forward (I'm always moving forward)
No matter the setbacks and steps back
I just gotta press on
Used to wear my failures like a jacket, now its less on
Yes I'm, resilient and brilliant as no other
My grandmothers child ain't raise no suckas
Pac told me to keep my head up, in mornings when I get up
I put my foot upon the gas ain't ever gonna let up
I'm better, and cheffin' with the knife and pen
Thought I told you all how I'm living life again
I used to be the wack ass in the backs of math class
Doodle in my textbooks, scribble in my notepads
Tried to be the next Em, even though I wrote bad
They wish that I knew how to quit, like that scene in Brokeback
You know that, I came a long way from where I started
Fifteen talking bout "oh I think I farted"
In Autumn, I was born to be one of the greatest
Took me 31 years but dammit mama I made it, singing
Day after day day after day
I'm always moving forward (I'm always moving forward)
Day after day day after day
I'm always moving forward (I'm always moving forward)
Everybody try to bring me down
But I keep my two feet on the ground
Day after day day after day
I'm always moving forward (I'm always moving forward)
I used to be a little bit smaller
I never was a baller
I used to memorize all the bus routes
And get cussed out
A big kid but was timid as a church mouse
With a merc's mouth
Never forget the first day
Had to be 9th or 10th grade
When I stepped out my own way
Decided on braids
That's when my whole world changed
And nothing was the same
I had confidence out the asshole
You should've seen me like Eureeka's castle
I was the capital one with no hassle
Til the day that one chick whooped my ass though
But I was strong, didn't break like hymen
I put the pen to the paper and I started rhyming
Finding my voice like a mermaid, I been
A legend in my own own mind, yes I said
Day after day day after day
I'm always moving forward (I'm always moving forward)
Day after day day after day
I'm always moving forward (I'm always moving forward)
Everybody try to bring me down
But I keep my two feet on the ground
Day after day day after day
I'm always moving forward (I'm always moving forward)
Day after day
Day after day after day after day after day after day after day after day
Day after day after day after day after day after day after day after day

Respect Holzken! He did an amazing job against Smith.. With all the experience he has Holzken made him look weak!

Timmy Turner

Yes Callum Smith is a giant in the super middleweight division and Holzken constantly pushed him back and had better ring generalship.

Combat Enthusiast

Timmy Turner That mma background gave him the confidence to bully

Tommie Zanders

Combat Enthusiast What MMA? He is a 7x time world champion in kickboxing and European champion in Muay Thai!

Kevin Lewis

tommie zanders..het is best bizar hoe weinig mensen weten wie holzken is,in america en england is het absoluut niet populair, zelfs ik weet weinig over kickboxing, maar weet wie nieky is

Remycris2

Tommie Zanders it’s that plodding forward Dutch style of kickboxing that I love so much , but of course with that style and kickboxers having very limited head movement it’s gonna take time to adjus he has everything he needs to be a world champ except proper boxing skills , if he’s been boxing this whole time he’d be a legend

GILWOLF

I really like Holzken and hope he gets bigger fights soon because he earned it after this fight.

GILWOLF

I would like it if he does. He seems like he'll be pursuing that after this fight.

Nieky's monologue at 11:00 Love his attitude, hope boxing promoters will give him more opportunities to prove himself! Oss

I think people shouldn't be down talk Callum too much but actually recognise Nieky Holzken. I've been following him for a long time in his kickbox career and I think it's ridiculous to think he was just gonna get walked over in the first place. Yes he's a kickboxer but that doesn't change the fact that he has fought on the highest level and just has a lot experience against some of the most dangerous strikers and is most effective/destructive with his hands. More than anything this fight didn't show that Callum wasn't as great but more that Nieky holzken belongs up there and deserves and should be in there with a top 10 guy at least.
