Also known as Ashu & Dhruv in the business world. Smoke is a blend of different genres of music varying from Western Symphonic to Bebop, Indian classical to dance and blues which is a result of their Indian and Western classical roots.
Ashu, a graduate in Western Classical Music Theory from University of Pennsylvania has been professionally composing music for the last 15years. He started composing for television serials and commercials on a part-time basis and has also composed and produced a 20 song Rock Opera called “I”.
Dhruv began studying Indian Classical Music at the age of nine with Suresh Wadkar and also continued his study under great sarangi exponent Sultan Khan. He has performed and worked with great musicians like Karl Peters, Louis Banks and Adrian D’souza and continues to compose music in virtually all genres.
Together they have scored many successful films including Bombay Boys, White Noise and are now making foray into the west with their first international film “Broken Thread”. They have also scored various channel identities including entire music for Star News, Sony Max, MTV, and also the hit show Nachbaliye.
They are also partners of the new exciting music venture called the Blue Frog which involves 4 state-of-the-art Recording Studios, a live performance Night club, a Record Label and a massive multi-composer Music Production Company.
