let it snow let it snow
Smokey Robinson and The Miracles Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

It doesn't show signs of stopping
And I've bought some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

When we finally kiss goodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm

The fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we're still goodbying

But as long as you love me so
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

Overall Meaning

"Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" is a classic Christmas song and belongs to the genre of holiday music. The song was written by Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne in 1945. The song is about two people who find themselves stuck inside their house on a cold and snowy night. The lyrics are simple but convey a strong sense of warmth and coziness in the presence of a loved one.

The song starts with the description of a snowstorm outside and how it is not safe to go out. But the situation inside is quite different. The couple is sitting by the fireplace, and it is very warm and peaceful. The lyrics suggest that they have no place to go and that they are happy just being together inside. As the snow keeps falling outside, they continue to enjoy each other's company.

In the second verse, the lyrics describe the couple's feelings. The man is worried about going out in the storm, but the woman reassures him that she will keep him warm. The chorus repeats, and the lyrics end on a positive note. The couple understands that they will part ways soon, but they cherish being together at that moment.

Claudette had such an infectious voice! Truly a catchy version of this classic Christmas tune!

Thanks for posting this. It's great to hear Claudette Robinson's voice. She appeared on the early Miracles recordings. She stopped touring in the early sixties due to health problems. I've seen her on Motown Music specials that crop up on PBS funding raising programs. Still looks and sounds great.

@JackHodges

cool! This is one of my favorite Christmas songs and I have been looking for the best version to add to a music playlist on my Christmas channel. It's very nice to have a multi-dimensional video to go with a song than a still picture.
