Requiem
Snot feat. Corey Taylor Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We were ready for anything
Everyone knows some pain
I see the loss every time some ones says your name
When you know someone who shines hard
A soul of the age who doesn't care
Who the f**k you are
You had a friend, a brother who was everything
But he had to go away... that was yesterday
I've lost a lot of people in my time
The good, the bad, the unreal,
And the one who shine
So I know you all understand
When I say that until they left
We were ready for anything... but this

You are not gone
We keep you here inside us
You are not gone
We know you're still beside us
You are not gone
We have this light you gave to us
Now it's time to lay to rest our friend
And through these songs
His memory will never f**king end
We will see that
Through this loss we'll shed some light on you
Until the day you left us

We were ready for anything...but this
You are not gone
We keep you here inside us
You are not gone
We know you're still beside us
You are not gone
We have this light you gave to us
Why'd you have to go? we never had a chance
I can't believe it so I wont admit it
Life ain't shit without you in it
You are not gone
We keep you here inside us
You are not gone-
We know you're still beside us
You are not gone-
We have this light you gave to us
Everybody says the light that shines the brightest
Burns out fast
But what they never say is
All the light they give us lasts
We hold the memories and cherish
Everyday we had
But we would give it up in a second

Just to have you
Back!!!

Overall Meaning

The song Requiem by Snot feat. Corey Taylor is a tribute to a lost friend or brother who was everything to the group. The lyrics acknowledge that pain is an inevitable part of life, and losing someone who shone bright and didn't care who you were is particularly painful. The chorus reassures everyone that although their friend is gone, he is still with them in some way. The group keeps him inside them, remembers his light and cherishes the memories they had with him. The lyrics express the heartbreak of losing someone so special and how it affects the people left behind.

The song is a powerful statement about the strength of the bond between the group and their friend who has passed away. It is a celebration of his life, the light he brought into their lives, and a commitment to keeping his memory alive through their songs. The lyrics are emotional and raw, expressing the deep sense of loss and sadness that comes with losing someone so important.

This was literally the first time you heard Corey clean sing besides Purity. This is something I hold close to me. Amazing.

@Aroused_mortician

Pretty sure no life is the first clean vocals he did in slipknot. Purity on the track list came after no life. 1:30 into no life had his clean vocals.

@DutchDukeMan

@@Aroused_mortician Me Inside is actually an older song and has clean vocals

@DutchDukeMan

Also did we forget about Wait And Bleed? lol

@Aroused_mortician

@@DutchDukeMan was it?

@flightsimstudio3535

Stone Sour Demo 1994/1996
For example Monolith ore Take a Number. Most of Coreys vocals by that Time were clean.

RIP Lynn Strait, Paul Gray and Joey Jordison you all live in our hearts

@dave1986R

I know this song was written for Lynn Strait, but now it's a perfect song to dedicate to Paul Gray. Because he also died suddenly, and when I listen to Slipknot's music or see their shows now I know he's still here. His spirit will never die.
