Think I'll dust 'em off, put 'em back up on the shelf
In case my little baby girl is in need
Am I coming out of left field?
Ooh woo, I'm a rebel just for kicks, now
I been feeling it since 1966, now
Might be over now, but I feel it still (but I feel it still)
Let me kick it like it's 1986, now
Might be over now, but I feel it still
Got another mouth to feed
Leave it with the babysitter, mama, call the grave digger
Gone with the fallen leaves
Am I coming out of left field?
Ooh woo, I'm a rebel just for kicks, now
I been feeling it since 1966, now
Might've had your fill, but you feel it still
Ooh woo, I'm a rebel just for kicks, now
Let me kick it like it's 1986, now
Might be over now, but I feel it still
We could fight a war for peace
(Is it coming? Is it coming?)
Give in to that easy living, goodbye to my hopes and dreams (is it coming? Is it coming?)
(Is it coming? Is it coming?)
Start flipping for my enemies or we could wait until the walls come down (is it coming? Is it coming?)
(Is it coming? Is it coming?)
It's time to give a little to the kids in the middle (is it coming? Is it coming?)
But, oh until it falls won't bother me (Is it coming? is it coming? Is it coming?)
Ooh woo, I'm a rebel just for kicks, now
I've been feeling it since 1966, now
Might be over now, but I feel it still (but I feel it still)
Ooh woo, I'm a rebel just for kicks, now
Let me kick it like it's 1986, now
Might be over now, but I feel it still
But I feel it still
The lyrics of Sofia Carson's "Feel It Still" portray a sense of rebellion and defiance that runs deep within the singer. The opening lines, "Can't keep my hands to myself / Think I'll dust 'em off, put 'em back up on the shelf," suggest a temptation or a desire that the singer is struggling to contain. The reference to a "little baby girl in need" hints at a sense of responsibility or duty that complicates the singer’s rebellious instincts. The question "Am I coming out of left field?" indicates a sense of uncertainty about their actions or motivations.
As the song progresses, the singer describes themselves as a rebel, feeling this way since 1966. This creates a sense of nostalgia and a connection to a rebellious spirit that has been a constant presence in their life. The references to kicking it like it's 1986 evoke a feeling of reliving past rebellious moments. The mention of having "another mouth to feed" and leaving it with a babysitter suggests a sense of detachment or prioritizing personal desires over responsibilities, possibly hinting at internal conflict.
The lyrics then delve into the idea of fighting for peace or giving in to easy living, highlighting the dichotomy between idealism and pragmatism. There is a sense of questioning and contemplation about whether to engage in conflict or wait for change to happen naturally. The repeated questioning of "Is it coming?" reflects a sense of anticipation or uncertainty about the future. The mention of giving to the kids in the middle underscores a desire for a better world for the next generation.
Overall, "Feel It Still" captures a complex blend of rebellion, nostalgia, responsibility, and contemplation. The singer grapples with their rebellious tendencies while acknowledging the weight of their obligations. The song conveys a sense of defiance and a longing for change, while also acknowledging the challenges and uncertainties that come with it. Through its introspective lyrics and nostalgic references, the song invites listeners to reflect on their own desires for rebellion, peace, and a better future.
