Her music often blends elements of folk and pop; she also uses a lot of acoustic instruments in her songs, including violins, cellos, trombones, and acoustic guitar.
Sofia Talvik has emerged like a lady of the forest, bringing a new interesting side to folk music. Soft, airy, and graceful, Sofia Talvik sings both songs that touch on themes of love and heartbreak, as well as a healthy dose of anecdotal stories from her own life.
At the age of eighteen she left behind the comfort of home for the bright lights and lonely nights of Stockholm. There every experience, good and bad, would soon take the form of a beautiful, funny or heartbreaking song.
She's playing a unique blend of folk-pop (someone said Neo-Folk). This American genre filtered through her Swedish heritage, becomes something totally unique, a blend that has attracted attention from a broad audience all over the world.
Her soft and airy music at her combination of modal chord changes and beautiful 60's euro-pop melodies combined with the gentle singing of a 70's folk songstress will make you think of Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake, Jewel and Aimee Mann.
Her soft and airy music has been recognized by music lovers and critics all over the world letting her tour the US several times and making her the first ever Swedish female singer to play at the Lollapalooza festival.

As Summers Pass
Sofia Talvik Lyrics
As summers pass
The green green grass
turns to brown
Will you stop being around
You pray to God
your soul to keep
Then you ride me
'til you fall asleep
And I don't want forever
you know I don't pretend
I didn't want a lover
I just wanted a friend
I don't believe
in many things
But I feel your heartbeats
through your skin
And I can't read
between the lines
the irony of being blind
And I don't want forever
you know I don't pretend
I didn't want a lover
I just wanted a friend
I didn't want a hunter
I didn't want to find you on my page
You trapped me like a sparrow
by opening the door to my cage
And I don't want forever
but I don't want this to end
I was no ones lover
'til you made me one my friend
As summers pass
The green green grass
turns to brown
The green green grass
turns to brown
Will you stop being around
You pray to God
your soul to keep
Then you ride me
'til you fall asleep
And I don't want forever
I didn't want a lover
I just wanted a friend
I don't believe
in many things
But I feel your heartbeats
through your skin
And I can't read
between the lines
the irony of being blind
And I don't want forever
you know I don't pretend
I didn't want a lover
I just wanted a friend
I didn't want a hunter
I didn't want to find you on my page
You trapped me like a sparrow
by opening the door to my cage
And I don't want forever
but I don't want this to end
I was no ones lover
'til you made me one my friend
As summers pass
The green green grass
turns to brown

Beautiful! This song has a soul of its own, it´s like nothing I´ve ever heard.

I've become addicted to this tremendous music (and it's not the only song), by far one of the best ones by the talented Talvik. I say that: I'm really sure that there's more than something good in her. Astounding video too!!! Proud to post it on my blog Ecos Imprevistos.
