Such a Shame
Solar Fake Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Such a shame to believe in escape
'A life on every face'
And that's a change
Till I'm finally left with an eight
Tell me to relax, I just stare
Maybe I don't know if I should change
A feeling that we share
It's a shame

Such a shame
Number me with rage
It's a shame
Such a shame
Number me in haste
Such a shame
This eagerness to change
It's a shame

The dice decide my fate
And that's a shame
In these trembling hands my faith
Tells me to react, 'I don't care'
Maybe it's unkind that I should change
A feeling that we share
It's a shame

Such a shame
Number me with rage
It's a shame
Such a shame
Number me in haste
Such a shame
This eagerness to change
Such a shame

Tell me to relax, I just stare
Maybe I don't know if I should change
A feeling that we share
It's a shame

Such a shame
Number me with rage
It's a shame
Such a shame
Number me in haste
It's a shame
Such a shame
Write it across my name
It's a shame
Such a shame
Number me in haste
Such a shame
This eagerness to change

Such a shame

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Solar Fake's song "Such a Shame" revolve around the idea of feeling trapped and unable to escape from one's current situation. The opening lines "Such a shame to believe in escape, 'A life on every face'" suggest that the singer once believed in the possibility of a better life, but now feels disillusioned and trapped by the world around them. This feeling of entrapment is further emphasized in the lines "The dice decide my fate, and that's a shame" which suggest that the singer feels as though their life is out of their control, and they are at the mercy of fate.

The repeated phrase "Number me with rage" suggests a feeling of anger and desperation, as the singer feels powerless and unable to change their situation. However, there is also a sense of eagerness to change, as indicated by the lines "This eagerness to change, it's a shame". Despite feeling trapped, the singer still holds onto the hope that things can get better and is willing to work towards that change.

The final lines of the song "Write it across my name" suggest a willingness to take ownership of this feeling of shame and to wear it as a badge of honor. The repeated use of the phrase "such a shame" throughout the song emphasizes the frustration and disappointment the singer feels with their situation, while also hinting at the possibility for change and growth.

Sven produces the best covers. What kills me is the Dreadful Shadows covers. Why didn't they record them all? "Hurt" is my favorite. Never recorded. The "How Soon is Now" cover is divine. Sven, please do a covers album. I'll buy them all.

The hardest part about doing a cover like this is doing the vocals justice, and I think they did a great job capturing the same emotion.

Cats&caffeine
