The early Soliloquium releases were classic death/doom metal music, influenced by early Katatonia, Paradise Lost and October Tide. Time saw the band getting more experimental, incorporating elements from genres like shoegaze, post-rock and progressive rock. The band got signed and released debut full-length "An Empty Frame" in 2016 on U.S. label Transcending Records. The second album "Contemplations" came out in 2018.

Dead Ends
Soliloquium Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Firmly on the cursed soil
Was there a war to win?
Racing the clock to no avail
Life has come to a halt
We're still compelled to carry on
Times of forfeiture
A lingering ghost of what once was
Absent-minded, obsolete
Warning signs were ignored
Plunging towards the crossroads
Degraded to nothing
Dead end existence
I turned every wretched stone
Degraded to nothing in toxic thought
I just don't know where to turn
I just do not know
The lyrics of Soliloquium's song "Dead Ends" explore the human condition of being stuck in a rut with no clear way out. The opening lines of "Flightless, we stand / Firmly on the cursed soil" immediately set the tone for the song, showcasing a somber and defeated mood. The question of "Was there a war to win?" suggests a sense of futility and purposelessness in life. The lyrics continue to convey a sense of hopelessness, with lines like "Life has come to a halt / We're still compelled to carry on."
As the song progresses, the despair and deterioration of the subject's existence become more apparent. "Deterioration sets in / Times of forfeiture" speaks to the idea of the body and mind decaying over time, while "A lingering ghost of what once was / Absent-minded, obsolete" paints a picture of a life that was once filled with vibrancy and energy, now reduced to a mere shadow of its former self.
The chorus of "Degraded to nothing / Dead end existence" sums up the central theme of the song, with the subject feeling trapped and lost, unsure of which path to take. The line "I turned every wretched stone" suggests a desperate attempt to find meaning or purpose but ultimately coming up empty-handed. The song ends with the melancholic admission of "I just don't know where to turn / I just do not know," conveying the overwhelming sense of confusion and defeat that characterizes the song's tone.
