I remember listening to this everyday back in 1873. Good times.

Same here...My house is in the foreground with the smoke coming out of the chimney. My wife was cooking a big pot of stew that day in the fireplace...and boy it was delicious!

Yep. It was a good reincarnation. Miss these days.

You don't know how grateful we are for this. Where I live there used to be a Ports 'o Call which looked a little like a New England fishing/boating village with the same wooden roofs, the smell of smoked fish, artisans creating and displaying their hand-made wares, and the simple sounds of ocean sea birds mixed with the wonderful "white noise" of people talking - no loud music, and no loud announcements. Now, this little village is being torn down for eateries upon eateries, shops with t-shirts and other mass-made items you can find anywhere, and loud, blaring music, bands, etc. I very much doubt I will be able to hear the sea birds, the slap of the ocean against the wooden pilings, and the myriad conversations of people enjoying their outings, and each other. Thank you So Much for this. I come back again and again because I have no other such place to enjoy, except in dreams.

That's such a shame. I love nature and the simple joys of life and I hate to think that such wonders could be stripped away for the expansion of capitalism and a fast paced society. I'm sorry to hear that is happening to what sounds like a lovely place. By the way, I love the way you write! The word choices and imagery depicted are very beautiful! If you have ever wished to be a writer/poet I suggest you pursue it!

That sounds dreadful. I'm so sorry for you and the beautiful harbors

Your right, big corporations strip away the character of a area, and make it a cookie cutter place like everywhere else.i noticed this happening years ago. Its really sad. This character makes towns so interesting and unique.
