Great talk Father Chris on The Dark Night. You saved my family & myself during covid in 2021. I started watching your masses around Christmas of 2020 was lost needing answers. During my Dark Night my oldest daughter was admitted in a mental hospital on Thanksgiving 2020 & got bad after that. When I started watching your mass it changed my life for the better took time but its getting there. God doesn't answer that second. But he does help you continuously. It was hard but it got better. Praise God & you Father Chris & rest of the Marian Brothers & Marian Helpers.

Dark Night of the Soul is an important subject you joyfully share to us from your untiring research, my heartfelt thanks to you, Fr. Chris. We must all know about our spiritual journey so as to understand the workings of God in our interior life. When I entered the convent as a Carmelite Nun and young as I was, 53 years ago, I have to learn the spirituality of the 3 Carmelite doctors namely: St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross and St. Therese of the Child Jesus. In the beginning, it wasn’t easy at all because I was told to forget what I’ve learned from the world and focus on the monastic-contemplative life. First, I chose the childlike spirituality of St. Therese, followed by the writings of St. Teresa which I find so strict, the Way of Perfection and the Nada way of St. John, really the hard way. But, I ended up following the spirituality of St. John of the Cross which I humbly follow until now. His nothing, nothing way is the complete purgation of oneself in order to attain to the union of the beloved. It isn’t easy but God is always present. God bless you and prayers for you, Fr. Chris.

@Divine Mercy Thank you, Fr. Chris. At 74 years old now, I only know of doing God’s will which is the safest way to our salvation. What I’ve learned that self is our greatest enemy because of its many likes and dislikes and wants to be pampered. Time is very precious and must be use in a holy manner with God’s wisdom.

@@valiantvasquez the requirement for the brown scapular is it must be made of wool. After many decades refusing to wear the brown scapular because it was itchy and irritated my skin only this year I have begun to wear the brown scapular. Honestly, I hardly notice the itchiness on me. I was very much blessed to have been enrolled in the brown scapular this past September. I wore my brown scapular anyway but you really should be enrolled for all the benefits.🤎

Father, your opener with all of those questions are my questions. I have gone through those questions over and over again and sometimes, I lose Faith. I know I'm a sinner because I think I've fallen. But I'm trying my best to not lose my Faith. I always ask forgiveness but I know I have to go to confessions often to be forgiven. Thank you Father , you explained so well about Mother Theresa, when I was a cancer patient I was reading Mother Theresa letter and I felt was she was feeling, the need of God the desolation, she felt what the people around can feel, she felt so much the need because she was surrounded by poor souls and misery all around that she said she won’t change anything because that way she was carrying her cross and also everyday realize how much need and hungry was for God. It’s hard to understand you have to feel it also your explain so well about your parents, the opportunity that we have to purifying here on Earth 💜💕

What an amazing and excellent and thorough presentation. I really enjoyed every word. Thank you so very much, Father Chris, for all the effort that you put into this series of Saturday talks. Please keep this genre going. Many of the points that you made today were reminiscent of your talk on “How to become a Saint”, e.g. the 3 stages of holiness, but in this talk, you really brought the explanation to a deeper level. I totally got so much out of it. I actually have Ralph Martin’s book, that I blew the dust off a few weeks ago. I bought it many years ago when he spoke at a local parish. I’ll have to read it again. Clearly, I’ve had many significant portals, but no one changed my attitude, desire I don’t know the right word, as you did, and I am so blessed. I love the Dark Night explanation, as just last week I realized that recently, I am seeing, hearing and experiencing new things in my same old physical worship environment. I’ve been at the same parish for 8 years, but you and the Marians have been the game changer, and you have made all the difference. Re-learning how to pray, how to listen, has quieted my mind and opened my eyes and ears. How fortunate am I to be like the workers who came late in the day, but if I do it right, I’ll get the same reward as those who labored all day. How good is our God? God bless you for all that you do.

I really appreciate this talk. The part about being put into the dark so we can see reminds me of a story Jim Lovell told. Before he entered the astronaut program, he was flying missions off an aircraft carrier. Coming in for a night landing, he suddenly found himself in pitch black darkness. Night carrier landings are extremely difficult and dangerous; you can't do them in the dark! As he was wondering and praying how he would ever land safely, he noticed a green arrow in the water, pointing directly toward the ship. It was the algae that luminesces palely when stirred up by a ship's propeller. It was only visible because ALL of the lights, including the small instruments lights inside the cockpit, had gone dark.

Thank you, Father Alar, for this beautiful talk. I have gone through periods of these darknesses, not understanding what was happening. Your talk has helped shed some light (pun intended) on some of these past few years, and I believe I’ve received a clearer understanding of what was happening within me spiritually. I found that you gave an explanation for the mortifications which I have set upon myself. I didn’t know why I had implemented regular fasting, bringing myself to a nearly orthodox sense of modest dress (I cannot claim true modesty yet as my mouth all too frequently runs away before my mind can stop words. Blessed Mother Mary help me to follow your example in all ways!). The information you’ve shared has helped me to see that my faith experiences (the actions and reactions) are following a natural course in spiritual development.
It has also reinforced the results of my vocational discernment and the decision to turn towards Carmel and the OCDS. May God be with you always! 🤎✝️🙏🏼

Father I have been going through a dark night myself when I was a child my mother scared me with the fear of death telling me that it wasn't for sure that God was around and that there wasn't anything after we pass. I was no more than five or six years old and I've struggled with it my entire life and now I've been getting panic attacks. Father I've been praying and reading a Bible I have and I find it comforting to read. I don't know what to do father is there anything you recommend I pray everyday and I ask the Lord every day to allow me to do his will here on Earth and to forgive me for the sins I commit or I have committed I'm not a perfect man but I asked the Lord to help me and to allow me to serve in his grace thank you Father I would appreciate any help.

Praying for you, your family and Marian Helpers and especially your Mom and Pam and Sandy also your Dad's healing of the grandparents. Father Chris, I felt you were speaking to me. I got up Saturday morning and was asking God why my prayers are never answered and asked him if he was still there listening to me.I also agree with you things that I thought I couldn't live without now mean nothing to me. I got rid of so much stuff that I wondered why I had to have them in the first place. So much good has happened to me since I have watching your videos I can't even begin to tell you but I feel like a new person and I don't even recognize myself. All of you talks have helped me soo much. After 40 years of not going to Mass I now go to Mass, observe all of the Holy days and go to confession once a month I feel wonderful! Thank you so much for all that you do for us. You have helped me in ways you will never know. You Fr. Chris, have been Truly Blessed.

Im in ireland i was talking with you about a year ago, so im in trouble with drugs and i honestly think god is getting me ready through rehab. My brother took his life in February. It has been a difficult journey. It was only a few years ago when my nephew took his own life. I wrestle with the work I do because I meet with people daily whom contemplate taking their lives because of mental illness or substance use. I have been so grateful to your healing words. OMG. Thank you Father! You just explained to me what’s been happening to me all this past year 😇. You explained it so perfectly to T. I’m so grateful to understand more of this. I never once thought God Abandoned me even though I couldn’t feel him for a time. Would this be similar to Jesus going to the wilderness for 40 days when Satan tried tempting him? I kept praying harder and would receive visions from Mary and cloud signs from Jesus who showed himself to me in the same picture as the Shroud of Turin using red clouds. God wants our faith to grow and trust in him. God is a God if his WORD. Praise Jesus! Thank you Father

I' ve survived many dark trials..near to end my life,its good..i thought before to overdose take a medicine..i will pray the Holy Rosary first, then i opened the radio ..it was El Shaddai..the station unexpectedly i opened....i listened..then unknowingly..my sister came to visit me..i was crying so deeply..
my situation before..my in laws..tries to destroy me,even send me to the mayor..for confronting them..cause..they pursue my father to go work in the ricefield,who is taking good care of my 2 toddler children while I am at work..create story that i did not do it,my husband was in Saudi before..so i talk to them..why they let my life so hard..

I needed this today. I went to mass and my priest reluctance to promote divine mercy made me mad. I told him 'shame on you father' [I find it hard to keep my mouth shut] I guess cuz im so on fire for spreading divine mercy i dont get it when a priest dont feel the same. I need to find a spiritual director but when you have priests here that dont bother with first saturdays and dont want to spend more than 5 minutes in confession then its hard. You are my online spiritual director. Thanks for everything xxxxx

Fr. Chris I have been trying to tell you for a long time now that this is what I have gone through. The best way I can possibly put this. Is when this happens to a person it’s very hard to put it into words cuz that would and is really impossible and very arrogant of me to even think I can explain God and His ways to anyone what truly happens in the dark night of the senses and then dark night of the soul. The only way I can describe it is it was the hardest thing I have ever been through. It is beyond gut wrenching and agonizing!!! Our Father strips you of everything. What He is doing is preparing you for what He placed you here for. The dark night teaches you or me at least is to trust Him no matter what and love Him just for Him. Not for what He can give you, but rather realize and have confidence in Him alone. And no matter what comes your way in this world He is all that matters. I guess that’s why I have been so persistent with you. I couldn’t agree more that mental health should always always be looked at first and foremost. And the Church should and must look at this as the first possibility. Man did I learn my lesson man you tell one person that you met your guardian angel at 6yrs old and they go absolutely crazy. When I was little I thought that everyone knew their angel. Sadly I was so naive 😢. I was always taught to look for Christ in everyone (boy oh boy) I have gotten burned so many times with that one. But yet still can not help myself but to still do it. Ppl tell me I’m to trusting and maybe I am. I have even run into problems with some clergy really 2 priest out of many. Growing up in a military family we had many priests as friends. Oh how I loved when they would come for dinner and just sit and listen. There is nothing I would rather do. I know I’m not perfect nor will I ever claim to be. I’m only as perfect as God wants me to be. I know I can obtain nothing without Him. A lot of the time on the outside I’m kind of a good ball but on the inside I cry for the world and Holy Mother Church. I also have very vivid dreams sometimes beyond beautiful but sometimes beyond horrific and I have had them my whole life. I have had way more than my share of blessings but have had to walk through fire more times than I can count. But even when I thought I was failing not knowing at the time God was preparing me for now.

As of the age of 8 I was telling my dad (who also had the gift of knowing his angel) which I did not know till I was older. But I would tell him Vatican 2 killed us. I didn’t even know what Vatican 2 was and why I knew these things. When I told him abt my angel he said said he knew that I was going to be different than other kids. Later he explained to me why. 😢he’s been in heaven now for 22years I am very happy for him and others that get called home. Still I miss him sometimes. Thankfully God has always put ppl in my life to guide me and continue Gods work in me. I could go on but I’m not aloud to share more cuz according to His plan I’m not supposed to yet. I know sounds weird and crazy but who am I to question Him. Why He would give me such a blessing I have no idea cuz I do have a big mouth. I just wish everyone could share this gift with me. I will forever cherish (not even strong enough word) Our Father beyond the world’s wildest dreams. I will say to behold Him crying for humanity I can’t even say there are simply no words to express how much it hurts. Even now just typing this part I’m starting to cry and my heart is breaking so bad it hurts. So I will go now. But plz keep up your great work. I know you are truly chosen. God bless 🕊💜🕊

On my way back from Lourdes, I met some girls who were at the first Saturday with you and got some pictures with you, and I was like that’s my father Chris and ahhhhhh he is my visible angel. I was hoping to attend the first Saturday at the centre, but sadly I could not, but by grace will be there this summer.

Thank you for this beautiful message like all your messages, but this came at a time when I needed it. My lovely spiritual friend shared this with me as I am experiencing all three steps of the dark night of the soul. It’s super harsh and this morning I was resentful and like you said I was going to depression. I picked a statue of my favourite saint and guide father Joseph and spoke to him from the heart. I cried for an hour and then felt at peace. I heard this voice said it’s ok and I love you. Then I listened to your talk and I thought man really dies due to lack of knowledge. Now am happy where I am because bigger things are on the way. It’s so helpful and the only way I can say thank you are this:

1) May the lord bless and keep you, and may you have health and strength to keep saving the secular world globally, as not a single soul which I have shared your talks have not been blessed, Catholics and non alike.

2) May your mum be healed and May 2023, enable me to see you and just give you a hug and say thank you God and our lady’s beautiful son. Thank you father Chris. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
