Having worked for many years on numerous records and tours for some of the world’s leading musicians, they decided to come together and produce their own project. Harking back to some of their childhood influences, right through the 70’s and 80’s to the present day,
Soul Talk brings you some of the best that British Soul music has to offer. There are three principal members.
On lead vocals Gary Poole, who was part of the well-known vocal group Troi, toured extensively with D-Influence, including supports for Prince and Michael Jackson
.....boards, guitar and bass, Toby Baker, who’s career started in London sessioning with Brit -Funk pioneers including Light of the World, Imagination and Jaki Graham, and gone on to record and tour with artists such as BB King, Eric Clapton, Chaka Khan and Michael McDonald.
Lastly Ernie Mckone, who as well as drum, bass and guitar duties, was instrumental in putting the band together and recording them at his studio. Ernie is the owner of Boogie Back Records, which through the 90’s produced and released numerous “Street Soul” records, including cuts By Omar, Misty Oldland, Mica Paris and Lalomie Washburn, to name a few. He is currently touring as musical director for Candi Staton and Marlena Shaw.

Wow my cousin died a few weeks ago. He was singing gospel music and just went quiet, that's when he died. My mom passed away on March 1. It was an unexpected heart attack from which she went quickly and peacefully. I had talks with her about dying over the years and she told me once “when I go, keep moving and don’t stop.” The day of her funeral this song was playing in my head and was giving me strength. i was a white kid in a majority black high school when this came out (NY here). I remember this time it was very exciting. I will tell you my black friends held their heads very high during this time. The music, even the rap music was very positive and afrocentric. All the black kids wore those african medallions, they were proud and i remember talking them in class about all the rap groups coming out. They were smart. Now i am an old man, 44, but because of this exposure I am convinced a conspiracy occured within the music inudustry with the intent on dumbing down these kids. It is really heartbreaking. I just recently went back to school. It’s been super challenging and I’ve just been going back and forth with myself, trying to figure out if I made the right decision. I’m currently sitting in front of my school and this song came on. All I heard was “keep on moving, don’t stop, no!” I don’t care what no one says- that was God speaking to me. I didn't get to hear this song til 1991, when I'd moved out on my own. I still recall when I first heard it, working at a local gas station in a new town and someone was bumpin this as they cruised by. Then I heard it again on the radio - hooked from jump. I know it came out in 89, but it feels like a 90s song and so that's the playlist I put it on. Keep on movin', folks.

I'm sitting at work burned out, and stressed. I started thinking of my mom all of a sudden, and i don't know why this song popped in my head. When this song came out i was 6 years old. I was raised on soulful music. My mother always was jamming to some music no matter what time of the day it was. Hearing this song right now i can see her dancing, snapping her fingers and singing this jam. She died from cancer Jan 9th of 2017. I miss her so much. Well, i have to hang in there, the patients need my help at this hospital. This song for you momma. Rest in peace, and i love you. <3
