The band formed in 2009.
With 3 of his own albums under his belt Simon Collins, son of legendary musician Phil Collins, decided to try something he had always wanted to do. Having grown up on tour with Genesis, Simon had a rare and unique perspective that inspired him to eventually pursue his own music career. After a decade of writing, producing and promoting his solo career, Simon kept in touch with a handful of musicians with whom he had a strong connection and a rare chemistry. With a shared vision and strong musical bond they embraced what was clearly an organic evolution and decided to bring their creative forces together. That band is now here and called “Sound of Contact”. At its core the band consists of Simon and co-producer/co-writer and keyboardist Dave Kerzner (Sonic Reality, Kevin Gilbert) with the additon of such great co-writers and guitarists/bassists as Matt Dorsey and Kelly Nordstrom as well as Hannah Stobart (Rocket Moth, Wishing Tree) as a special guest in the studio. The live touring line up for Sound of Contact includes Simon Collins on vocals and drums, Dave Kerzner on keyboards, Matt Dorsey on bass, John Wesley (Porcupine Tree, Fish) on guitar and Ronen Gordon on drums.
Sound of Contact’s debut album “Dimensionaut” is a concept album about a dimensional time and space traveler called “Dimo” who is on a mission to expand the boundaries of the human experience. The album features a wide range of styles and dynamics from dark and mysterious progressive rock to nostalgic classic rock to high energy alternative to sci-fi film score-infused “space rock”.

The lyrics to Sound of Contact's "Not Coming Down" tell a story of someone who has lost control and crossed the line, taking risks and neglecting those around them. The person has reached a point of no return, having closed the door and locked the gate to the life they once knew. They continue to spin the wheel and twist their fate, heedless of the consequences. The chorus paints them as being high above, in a cloud, and unable to come down. They have gone too far and are fading away, consumed by their own recklessness.
The second verse hints at a possible escape or return, but the person is too far gone to do so. They are in a world of a different shape, but it's all the same; they go back to where they came from. The lyrics then shift to address the person directly, calling them clever but clueless, unable to differentiate what is real and what is not. They are all messed up and never satisfied, giving up and accepting the same fate over and over again. The final repetition of the chorus drives home the point that this person is not coming down from their high, lost in their own dangerous game.
Overall, the song's lyrics paint a vivid picture of someone consumed by their own recklessness and unwilling to address the damage they are causing. It serves as a warning against letting oneself become consumed by one's own passions, and the ultimately destructive power of addiction.

This album is seriously good, the production is spot on professional and it sounds polished, though not in a big and bombastic show off sense. The chord structures and melodies flow, and the band also know how too take their time. True, its not easy to mention Simon without mentioning his dad, but, this is Simon and his friends time, and this album stands alone. Plus, if his dad wasn't Phil Collins this album would STILL stand alone as a great accomplishment...10/10...G...

As a huge genesis/collins fan I've been lurking around watching and waiting for Simon to have a sound that would grab my attention (as his Phil did)...and I'm delighted to say this is what I've been waiting for. Yes...you can't deny he looks and sounds like his dad...even on the drums.....But that's the best part. He has all the qualities that kept me a loyal follower for 30 years. I love that he has his own style in between all the similarities. Success is sure to follow :)

Cannot wait to see these guys in concert. So far have tickets to the show in Sellersville, PA and New York City (meet and greet!) And then one other show that I don't think has been officially announced. Love the sounds from this album. Every single song is beautiful.
