Bonus Track
Soundtrack - K-Pax Lyrics

Is it cool if I talk about my idols
Not American
But hes someone I might know
Used to stay up late
Waiting for ya Release date
Illegally downloaded all you mix tapes
Felt like your story was my story
Your glory was my glory
If you talked about how Jesus walking
I felt he should be rolling
Never mind all the Trophies
I felt you should have won
Hiatus after graduation
I thought you would be done
But then you came back
With some powerful tracks
Talking about all the power
And how we should give it back
I listening alone
I swallowed up the pain
It only left me asking 1 question
Will I ever meet Kanye?
You wrote a letter
You ya unborn child
Sampling Michael
Thug life
Giving the world an eyeful
I couldn’t understand
The man you wanted to be
Full of pease
But you see that he’s
Touching inner streets
One night I fell into a dream
Visions of hanging with the biggest kings
That’s why they call it dreams
We had a conversation
Told me I’ll be a legend
In a smoked filled room
Where they honored
All of your present
Woke up the next morning
Found out that you’d been shot
For the 1st time In my life
All Of the music just stopped
Watched the tv with tears
Turned up on all the pain
It only left me asking 1 question
Would I ever hear
Music the same?
I’m older now
Understanding the old school
You set the world on fire
With your
Inner city blues and
But what about your blues
Who was singing for you
When times got tough
Look what it made you do
Singing about your muse
All we want is the groove
Put your relationship thru music
So we could choose
Whether we want that Motown sound
Or more of you
Pressure was building up
Really who can you trust
When you become the missing
Link to a companies needs
You start to ask yourself
Was this really the dream
I listened to the songs
Heard how you got slain
It only left me asking 1 question

Will there ever be another
Marvin Gaye?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to the Bonus Track of the K-Pax soundtrack talks about the singer's admiration for his non-American idols, specifically Kanye West, and how their music has influenced him. The song starts with the singer admitting that he illegally downloaded his idol's mix tapes, and their story was his story, their glory his glory. He talks about how their music was powerful, and they talked about giving that power back. The singer also expresses his desire to meet Kanye West but ends up being heartbroken when he hears about the artist's tragic death.

Throughout the song, the singer reflects on the struggles his idol faced as an artist, particularly in the music industry, where pressure builds, and trust becomes a scarce commodity. He then touches on the issue of mental health, wondering who was there for his idol in his times of need. The song concludes with the singer questioning whether there will ever be another Marvin Gaye, who was known for his soulful music and his personal struggles.

Overall, the lyrics of the Bonus Track are a poignant tribute to artists who have endured both success and hardship in their careers, and the unique role they play in our lives as fans and admirers.

The best movie ever. It makes me cry every time I watch it and despite that I've seen many, many movies I've never seen one better than "K-Pax". It's so touching and it makes you wanna change your life... And about music... Wow. Just one of the most beautiful sounds on the Earth. So good to hear such a masterpiece, we need more music like that!
