Storm
Southern Badass Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Three men are standing up
Sneakin' around my grave
They put a bullet in my side for a woman that I once banged

The big short one is looking down
Lean over and touch the ground
He says "sorry for what I've done"
"But this woman seems to be my one"

Rain down the drain
Wind blows the pain
Sun meets the sand
That storm will never end

Storm is coming up
Everything gets worth
When your load your gun

I took a bullet for a girl
They say it happens in this world
No one's gonna sing or moan
For a poor lonesome cowboy

Now look at those poor old jerks
Fighting about the girl
A new storm brings a new murder
Lightning, wind and thunder

Rain down the drain
Wind blows the pain
Sun meets the sand
That storm will never end

Storm is coming up

Everything gets worth
When your load your gun

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Southern Badass's song "Storm" tell the story of a cowboy who was killed by three men because of a woman he had once slept with. The three men stand around his grave, with the largest of the three apologizing for what he had done. He had justified his actions by saying that the woman was the one. However, the storm brewing suggests that this new love would ultimately lead to even more violence.

The cowboy had taken a bullet for the girl, something that was not uncommon in this world. But unlike popular legends, nobody was going to sing or moan for him. The woman involved had caused trouble for the cowboy even after his death, with these three men standing around his grave ready to kill each other for her.

The lyrics are engaging because they capture the essence of a classic Western story of jealousy and violence driven by romantic passion. The storm symbolizes the tumultuous emotions brought on by this kind of love, which seems to be never-ending.
