I listened to this song late one night while laying in bed with my girlfriend, looking at the stars through our skylight.
I got really emotional and I started crying. Not just teary eyed, but really choking up and sobbing. I buried my face in her chest because I didn't want her to see, but there was no hiding it.
I didn't want her to acknowledge it. I didn't want her to be worried, or worse even chuckle at how dramatic I was being.
She didn't do any of those things though.
She just put her hand over my head and held me close. She was everything I wanted and needed in that moment.
It was one of the most powerful experiences of my life.
It just snuck up on me.

If my memory is right, when the creators of Cowboy Bebop discovered just how good Yoko Kanno could be, they allowed her a free hand in coming up with music for the show, which is something that simply didn't happen in anime. In short, they fell in love with her, even to the point of the creation of Radical Ed, a character she inspired.

Aside from being very sorry for your loss, I wanted to say that good people are never really forgotten for good. They touch our lives and help make us better people, so we in turn can do the same for others. Nothing can take that from him. As someone who has lost most of the people that meant so much to me, we just all have to remember things like that. Good people and good deeds may be forgotten with the sands of time, but their impact lasts forever. I bow my head to you with tears in my eyes, but hope in my heart that you may find future happiness and peace. Be well.
