Before the band, front girl Lele tasted success as a solo artist; touring the UK and Europe as support for big headliners including Crystal Castles, with the help from her sister and backing vocalist Kelly Jackson. Before putting together the current line-up, she wrote songs for SPEAKS with help from friends Larry Hibbitt (Hundred Reasons) and Radio 1 Rock DJ Dan P. Carter (A, Hexes).
Drummer, Kirk Budden, has played for Brighton hardcore outfit Trippin’ Violet and, more recently, has played drums for Brighton band The Black Rash and dubstep DJ Tek One. He is joined by guitarist Jake Tyler, formerly of post-hardcore outfit This City, and bassist Dan Palmer (formerly of Belisha, Zen Motel and Cousin Joey). Completing the line-up is synth player/guitarist/backing vocalist Liam Dowling, who is also still an active member of Brighton avant-garde legends Vile Imbeciles and The Black Rash.
Together, the band infuses the creativity and raw energy of alternative and heavy music, with the tightness and lyrical finesse of hip hop.

at quarter past eight
Make myself a cup
of brush my teeth
Wait I got that wrong
let me try it again
Get out of bed
Stayed up until three
my head is aching
and I'm sweating
Why? Why?
is there always dirty dishes in my sink?
It really makes you think
about the state of things
Why should we get out of bed?
Let's hide under the sheets instead
Why should we get out of bed?
Let's hide under the sheets instead
Hit the snooze
(b, b, button)
I get out of bed
and into my favorite washed out jeans
Bought them back in 96
Never found another pair
that fit me like they do
Just like I feel about you

In Speaks's song "Good Morning," the lyrics explore the struggles of getting out of bed and facing the day. The song highlights the singer's internal conflict between the desire to stay hidden under the sheets and the pressure to adhere to societal expectations of productivity and responsibility.
The first verse portrays the singer's failed attempt to follow a routine, emphasizing their struggle with time management and perhaps a sense of laziness or disorientation. This is further illustrated by the repetition of the line "Let me try it again," suggesting a continuous cycle of unsuccessful attempts to start the day on the right foot.
The second verse shifts the focus to the singer's physical discomfort, indicating that they have stayed up late and are experiencing the consequences of their actions in the form of a headache and sweating. The rhetorical question about the dirty dishes in the sink reflects a broader reflection on the state of things, symbolizing the general messiness and disorganization that can be found not only in their personal life but in the world as a whole.
The chorus repeats the idea of hiding under the sheets instead of facing the day, expressing a longing for escape and a resistance to the pressures of the outside world. This sentiment is further emphasized by the repetition of "lalalalalala," which can be interpreted as a form of escapism through humming or blocking out the noise of reality.
Overall, "Good Morning" captures the universal struggle many people face when it comes to finding the motivation to get out of bed and face the day. It delves into feelings of laziness, confusion, and the desire for isolation, while also reflecting on the larger issues within society. Through its relatable lyrics and catchy melody, the song invites listeners to empathize with the internal battle between responsibility and the longing for escape.

I’m so proud of Jill. Her parents are awful.
Ruth Annabelle
Right! You should be so "proud" Jill, daughter of the 👹😈.
Renee Bloggs
Dragging her family through the mud to make a buck. Who would be proud of this? You don't know this family! Her parents have maintained their silence through their daughter's betrayal and that actually says a great deal.
Ann S
She’s not “dragging her family through the mud.” She’s telling her own story, which she has every right to do since her dad decided to profit off his family for years. He also fraudulently had Jill and Derick sign a contract locking them into filming obligations. Considering that the Duggars proclaim to be “Christians” of upstanding character, and Jimbob was literally treating his children like workhorses and refusing to pay them, not to mention that they protected their pedophile son more than any of their other children, then yes - Jill ABSOLUTELY has license to tell her side of the story. And shame on anyone who thinks Jill’s decision to speak up is somehow worse than the Duggar parents exploiting their own children.
Cherie Sanchez
I am proud of Jill for speaking out. It amazes me how Jim Bob and Michelle didn’t think their kids would grow up and have a mind of their own. And in regards to “they don’t believe in resolving things publicly”they put their children and their lives out in public for a check.
Mar Watson
Exactly and he still trying to control them and JimBob had no problem putting their entire lives on T.V. for the world to see and that paycheck
Carla
So proud of Jill for standing her ground and making her book!!!!
Rekane 97
The book is phenomenal! I so recommend it! She really opens up, and was just so well done. Way better than Jingers very generic book.
Sonya Bolden
Don't do that! They both told their stories in different ways. They're both still victims.
Lively
Jinger, from the sound of it, has an NDA which prevents her from criticizing her parents. Very sad that she can’t be as honest has Jill.
